Then last night in Memphis comes from behind in the 4th and seals the game with a cold blooded 3 pointer to put OKC up 4 with 20 seconds left. Then he stole the ball from Marc Gasol to end it.

The first two games, he straight up SAVED the Thunder. Those Ws in OKC's record belong solely to him for rescuing the team. (I don't have the stats in front of me, but he scored all but a few of the points in the comebacks and made several huge turnover enducing defensive plays in crunch time) Is there some kind of stat for this sort of late game heroics? To me, these are 3 Wins that the Thunder wouldn't have just this past WEEK if Westbrook hadn't gone supernova. People love advanced stats, but is there any stat for this? Not just clutch % or whatever. Curious if this is quantifiable or you just have to rely on your eyes.

His record in the clutch this season is absurd.

Let's try to avoid letting recent success cloud what has happened for an entire season. If Westbrook is still your MVP then that's fine, but Westbrook's March shouldn't be the be-all end-all for the MVP race. There's much more basketball that has been played than just in the month of March.

Let's not kid ourselves. It's all about recent success, and that last impression. Whole season? Who bothers to look back the whole season?

Not saying all of us, but lot of the posters here do. If u dig back the past 100 pages and associate those 'oh it's not even close' comments with the 'big night's, there is a pattern.

Nothing but truth. Would feel really bad for Harden if he does not win and I don't think he will now. The narrative is too strong on Russ' side this season.

If Harden broke Oscar Robertson's triple double record that year, I'm pretty sure he would have a better chance of winning it that year.

The logic isn't inconsistent:

- if you recognize that breaking that record is a large reason people are voting for him.
- Harden doesn't have what curry had that year, and that's the best record in the nba. Guess who has that this year? CURRY. Not Harden. If harden had the best record in the nba this year, there's a 100% chance he'd get MVP. Voters will overlook stats in favor of the best record, not necessary a better record

Westbrook is my MVP.

This is a rare instance where you should give the MVP to a player on bottom seeded team. Westbrook leads harden in almost every category, even in 3pt%.

It is almost guaranteed that he will finish this season averaging a triple double and beating Oscar Robertson's record, which has not been done in 55 years.
We might never see someone average another triple double in our lifetime.

I think we're gonna get Westbrook and Harden battling for the triple double record next season. I'm already predicting that.

Sorry but its just a trend I am seeing here

Remembered when they said how Harden got robbed of Curry's MVP because it shouldn't be the best player on the best team but who is more valuable to his team?
Btw so many salty posts already, can't wait for all those salty threads when Westbrook does win it.

Wouldn't be surprised either way...I'll feel bad for whichever one loses

To put up such amazing stats and still not get it would suck

I think the race has officially entered the part of 'final impression' phase. In that sense, Harden might reserve a bit because the Rockets have bigger plans in the playoffs, and Harden is still nursing his dominant wrist. OKC know they won't go far, WB knows that too, so we can expect him to go all out for the remaining games to get what he wants with *no restrictions*. We've seen it in his all star MVP, and scoring title last year.

Cant' say he doesn't deserve it though.

Pretty confident the Rockets will beat the Thunder in the playoffs? Would be hilarious if OKC beat them after reading this (which isn't out of the realm of possibility)

In the year Robertson averaged a triple-double, the average game featured 126.2 possessions in 48 minutes. The average game in today’s NBA features 96.4 possessions in 48 minutes. There were about 30 more plays per game on which players could get stats. Westbrook’s 31.6 points per game leads the NBA by over two points per game; Robertson’s 30.8 points in 1961–62 was tied for fifth — and almost 20 points behind Wilt Chamberlain’s lead.

And he's doing it in 34.7 MPG vs Big O's 44.3 MPG

It looks like Westbrook will win it at this rate. Media has been on him religiously for the past 2 weeks.

Because it's over. Russ is the MVP.

MJ
Gregg Popovich
Larry Bird
T-Mac
Chauncey Billups
Shaq
Doug Collins
Rip Hamilton
Dennis Scott
Oscar Robertson
Kevin McHale

They spoke for Russ, not Harden. It's finished.

Westbrook deserves to win. To average a triple double is just fantasy and was thought to be impossible to do again until this season.

Harden has been unbelievable aswell. I'd love to see co-winners of MVP.

To be honest I believed Westbrook can do the triple double for a season even in 2015. When Durant was out, he had similar numbers as now. I don't think Westbrook is much better than then, just more usage and worse team around him.

Last 27 games of 2015 season without Durant: 31.3 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 9.9 apg. Obviously this year he rebounds better but it's because his teammates allow him to grab much more uncontested rebounds than in 2015.

It's 50 vs 50 right now for me, but Westbrook is paying out of his mind lately, so I guess he will win.
