Picking 13th or 14th (whichever one is on the board still)

John Collins
Lauri Markkanen

If winning the lottery:

1. Markelle Fultz
2. Lonzo Ball
3. Josh Jackson

I'm pretty happy with any outcome. Collins is a good Sophomore PF prospect. He is great on the glass, gets blocks, devastating around the rim offensively, and even has shooting range. I think he is a good fit with Winslow and Whiteside. Markkanen isn't as strong defensively but is an excellent stretch option. Again, he will fit like a glove.

Either way we win there.

The top 3, of course, go without saying. It's not a question of fit for them. They become the player of the position and we must move our other pieces for a forward.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

Just checked the standings-we could finish as high as 11 in the lotto ATM.

I like your picking Lauri for 13-14, but I'm not so sure about Collins (John or Zach), and doubt Markkanen is there. I expect Lauri to go somewhere between 8-12, and one the teams in that range will reach for a C & it's either Allen, Patton or J./Z. Collins. Patton is a reach before 15 (even then still a reach), and Allen is a project. Both Collins' could get a look in, but Zach is getting the love at the moment. Outside chance though 2 teams get desperate for a C & Bridges (or maybe Lauri) slips to us.

I have Hartenstein above Collins (probably both), and at the moment he'll be there. If he can come into workouts and blow people away then he'll start to get buzz like Kristaps did & vault up into that 8-12 range. The kid has a high range in potential career arc, and he could be anywhere between Vessly and Nowitzki (though I think he'll be neither). I don't quite see the all-star ceiling people say he has, but I see a good starter on a contending team - which is all you can ask for from a 13th pick. We'd still be missing a #1 option, but unless you get lucky with a high risk selection, that's not coming this late in the draft.

Good Lord.

Skal is still on his rookie contract (meaning the money can be used elsewhere on a potential star), a first rounder (so we can extend it), and he did this last week.

PG: Goran Dragic
SG:
SF: Justise Winslow
PF: Skal Labissiere
C: Hassan Whiteside

Watching this team grow will be exciting and wonderful. If Richardson gets his head out of his ass before it's too late, this team will be something special for the next 5-6 years.

twix2500 wrote:I am not sure just theorizing. Do you take on Rudy Gay or Aaron Afflalo contract and acquire Skal Labissiere in return for cash and Josh McRoberts as an example. Something to that nature.

Remember a couple of months ago, I proposed the Heat to trade with Sac to get Skal and Rudy Gay. And people blasted me for mentioning a injured Rudy Gay.

Taking on Gay to get Skal is still a pretty hefty price to pay - it kills our cap space & does nothing for us until Gay can get back on court. AA is more reasonable price to pay, but then we would need to drop Ellington to keep the roster balanced & Ellington has had a heck of a season this year, and has a decent cost for next year.

He's got the tools. A few years under Spo and he's an All-Star. My honest opinion.

If we could get him or Marquese Chriss that would be huge.

Okay Skal is showing more and more of what he's capable of, so the Kings trade him why? They're in a rebuilding phase and look like they're going to do it properly. That means dumping vets with value for youth & picks. Skal is the epitome of what they are looking for, not what they want to move.

Sure he would be a good pick-up for us, but he's shown too much for them to let him go cheaply.

I was patting myself on the back on seeing his potential early on before the Boogie trade and was willing to take a chance on him two months ago. Its too late now...

Schmitz mentions Iwundu and Ojeleye as sleepers he likes. Hartenstein's english is fluent but he sounds nervous.

I'm sure most people from Oregon speak fluent English  . I laugh a little inside everytime I see that someone thinks that Hartenstein was born out of the States.

Haha, fair enough - definite +1 to your scouting level!

It's an understandable mistake though. A lad with a German surname, 18, playing for Germany on a national Platform and playing in a European club. Why would anyone think he has actually lived in the US? Unless you have heard about it of course.

its funny how they have Dennis Smith Jr falling in the draft. He is absolutely the 2 or 3rd best player in this draft.

Wait, why is he dropping? He shouldn't be going any lower than 4th. Do the teams that are lined up after Fultz and Ball already have point guards?

I'm not sure, I think it has to do with the over hype of Ball and some blaming him for the coach firing. Smith is better than Ball.

Also the Heat better not be a team that over look Grayson Allen.

I think Grayson will be a better version of TJ, however his antics hurt his stock badly. If Krzyzewski couldn't reign in that ego, who the hell can?

Ball, like most good point guards, will look great on good teams. He makes his teammates better. On a bad team though? Well, he hasn't shown to be much of a scorer. So Idk. Smith is a taller, athletic freak version of Lowry. I had him second over Ball and under Fultz. But honestly, each lotto team has their reasons for picking whoever they decide. If the Sixers are 4th, they'll likely take Smith. Same with the magic, imo.

I can understand fans not liking Allen. But its not like any team will turn away Draymond Green. Allen plays all out and is too talented for teams to really worry about the two times he tripped a player.
