I think the Leafs will still win one of the next 2 games, or at least get one OT game out of them. Even though the opponents are hard, they are teams that have already locked up their playoff spots and won't be going 100% unlike a desperate team like Tampa. Plus, the Leafs have beaten the Pens and BJs before so it's not out of the realm of possibility that we steal one.

agreed. i mean it will certainly be disappointing but the big picture sees this team perennially contending for a playoff spot and possibly more starting as soon as next year. that we're even in this spot now is incredible.

that being said i already **** hate myself for grinning over a possible montreal regulation win tonight.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

I gotta say, at this point it would hurt because theres like a 90% that we make it, so if we blew that.... :noway:

I understand that nobody expected this, and we would have all been thrilled if they finished just outside the playoffs and gave us hope till the last week of the season but now that they're so close, it would really hurt if they blew it. I mean, they completely control their own destiny, they just need to get the job done.

Of course in the big picture, theres not much to be upset about at all.

That would be an appropriately Leafs way of making the playoffs.

Guessing one of Islanders or Lightning will win out. So Leafs can't count on a backdoor unfortunately

Hopefully like Montreal in their L tonight, that the Leafs final two opponents have nothing at all to play for, makes the difference. Although CBJ could be motivated as they are on losing streak and are probably getting reamed out by Torts. Maybe Pittsburgh should consider tanking, Tampa is a threat if they get in

ahaha...oh lord. Things are certainly trending towards an epic choke for the Leafs, aren't they? Reminiscent of the 87 Jays. Tampa suddenly refuses to lose.

Really hope the Leafs don't start playing scared and drop the next 2 games in humiliatingly low scoring fashion. They've got to attack.

Betting odds favoring the Leafs tonight. This HAS to be the night to get at least 1 point, if not win, considering how bad this team at the 2nd of back to backs, this is really THE must win game of the year.

Maybe if the competition was worse. These are 4 tough teams to beat. The difference in missing the playoffs this year will be one shootout loss. It's hard to get too upset, even if it does look like a choke.

LOL, "toldj'all". Your posts were so negative the last few days. It's all good though.

Like I said in the previous post, I don't care if we get swept in the first round. I'm glad our young team will get playoff experience. You can't teach playoff grit. You have to experience it.

It's been a faster rebuild than I thought it would be. But this is great for the city, possibly a legit contender for years to come.

Just going to enjoy the ride from here on out.

Well, on this very page I have two posts saying we should win one of these games this weekend, and one post going *Whelp!* I was a bit nervous at the "Historical Leafs Luck" but logic says we would have won either last night or today.

Hey, my pc was down since before noon on Tuesday April 4th/2017. Leafs & Jackets tied up at 2-2 right now.
Was watching the game after axe throwing at Crabby Joes downtown in London, ON last night(buddys bday party).

What a awesome, great win. Hope we can 1 or 2 games in whatever playoff series were in.

Dang, CBJ goes up 3-2(I jinxed it).

oof. one more point really was too much to ask. a leafs/sens series would have been phenomenal and winnable. now i'm just hoping to take the caps to 5 games, knowing full well that a sweep is probable. i'm fully on board but we just don't have the D to make this a series, sadly.

BS tie-break rule in the NHL. We **** on Boston all season (4-0-0 against those scrubs) yet they get to finish ahead of us due to having more "wins" (in a league where standings are based on points...).

It really hasn't been that fast, there's been a lot of work going on behind the scenes prior to this past draft. Everyone thinks we got Matthews and we tanked last year and that's when the rebuild started but we've been drafting well for a few years and just didn't have that top pick until this past season.

it's been pretty fast. buffalo is still in rebuild purgatory. arizona. edmonton is FINALLY reaping the benefits of their rebuild after how many years. they all started "rebuilding" before we did, which essentially started as soon as shanahan took over, which was 2 years ago. to go from bad, to last in the league, to playoffs over the span of 3 drafts (nylander, marner, matthews +++) is a pretty darn fast rebuild.
