There is a difference between resting in the middle of the season and resting with two games left with nothing to play for.

Agreed. Fans who buy tickets for the last game of the season should already expect that there is a real possibility that the game will be meaningless. (Either that, or it might be a critical game with a playoff-like atmosphere. It's a gamble.)

Team should have thought long and hard before losing yesterday. Just locked themselves into a 2nd round matchup with the Cavs.

Not buying it. The tie-breaker is so bloody important. Cleveland vs. Toronto will be a game to watch. Toronto will be tanking like crazy to lose. If they win that game, they'll have to meet Cleveland in the 2nd round. Unless Cleveland is also tanking to avoid us, it's a tough situation.

Alternate scenario is Cleveland losing to Miami and Boston winning out. That'll be tough, can't expect Miami to keep beating Cleveland.
