Re: ACC Scheduling
I'm not buying much stock into that schedule release, the Raptors will without a doubt get another 12pm start. ABC will not want to be broadcasting us especially with the amount of games they got robbed with players sitting out.

Last year, the first Sunday game started at 3PM. Why can't they just do that for Saturday as well?

Re: ACC Scheduling
fwiw
Milwaukee - no conflicts
Atlanta - concerts on the 22nd and 27th, which means you're definitely looking at multiple two day breaks within the first four games of the series. Also creates the potential hilarity of the split square for the 21st (and almost definitely eliminates the square for the 23rd if the Leafs play a Game 6, and will put a Raptors home game at the same time as a potential Game 7 which tbh I hope happens for the rage).

Would it be safe to say that the Raptors will get Sunday and Tuesday?
I don't see Raptors having to play Saturday and then wait till Tuesday for a game.
Pretty sure they could both play on Monday at different times if the league arranged it as such the basketball/hockey conversion only takes about 4 hours. Otherwise I'm assuming they'd have to wait till Tuesday.
not on monday they can't. That's a **** ton of lost revenue due to games not being in their native time slots.
a team is either going to have play too early for people too watch due to work or a team is going to play too late for people to stick around or possibly both.
That's something that could affect 3 different markets (toronto & the two teams facing toronto teams)
Not worth it at all.

The 10:30 Saturday night slot isn't really a good one. And once the Warriors take a prime-time slot, there's not enough West Coast teams to play that late.

Re: ACC Scheduling
I remember this conversation last year - everyone got excited at the leaked schedule only to see that they found a 12:30 slot for us anyway. Based on the matchups, you can actually deduce who is going where, and what that leaves us with.
Home teams (with time zone):
Boston (E)
Cleveland (E)
Toronto (E)
Washington (E)
Golden State (P)
San Antonio (C)
Houston (C)
LAC or Utah (P or M)
Let's first take the two primary ABC slots at 3 or 3:30 pm. I think there are only three potential contenders for two spots:
1. CLE or BOS vs. CHI (a certainty give market sizes)
2. HOU/OKC (frankly the most competitive and exciting matchup)
3. GSW/POR (just because GSW)
If HOU/OKC is in there, then I suspect the very late games will be occupied by SAS and LAC or Utah (at 9:30 or 10:30 eastern starts). Then you have to fill the 7 pm time slots on both days. I suspect you then put Boston or Cleveland vs. Indiana/Miami in one and the western conference matchup above that doesn't get the ABC slot.
Then you back into the 5 pm slot. Here what's left is Washington vs. Atlanta. Now they COULD put us vs. Milwaukee in the other 5 pm slot, but you know instead they will just bump us up to 12:30 because they probably have something better to show, like WSOP reruns.
So that leaves you with something looking like this:
Saturday
12:30 - TOR/MIL
3:30 - BOS/CHI
7:00 - GSW/POR or HOU/OKC
9:30 - SAS/MEM
Sunday
[NO 12:30]
3:00 - GSW/POR or HOU/OKC
5:30 - WAS/ATL
8:00 - CLE/IND
10:30 pm - LAC/UTA
That's my official prediction based on the likely playoff matchups. The only caveat I'd put in is I don't foresee ABC excluding both GSW AND CLE from those primary matchups. Therefore, if they decide to go HOU/OKC in the West, they will probably put LeBron's matchup no matter what, and vice versa if they got BOS/CHI, then GSW will get the other matchup.
P.S. Kudos to Rapcity for identifying what I think is the critical point. In order to start games at 3 pm (and not earlier), you need two teams that can start at 10:30 pm, so that the schedule is 3, 5:30, 8, 10:30. Only two series can realistically start at 10:30 (LAC/UTA and GSW/POR), and even if GSW doesn't get the 3 pm slot, there's no chance they bury them at 10:30. This necessitates the 12:30 start. And guess who's gonna get it.

gonna say sunday. that way none of the dates will clash with leafs.
if they play sat that means 2nd game should be monday, but leafs play at ACC on monday.
so sun-tue works best for scheduling.

I believe there is a word to describe this time, its "Tonight".

2014 against the nets - Saturday/Tuesday
2015 against the wiz - Saturday/Tuesday
2016 against pacers - Saturday/Monday
No reason it can't be Saturday/Tuesday and given leafs schedule and NBA tradition of messing with us, I'd be surprised if it's not Saturday/Tuesday.

Re: When is our first playoff game?
We were the Saturday afternoon game even when we played against teams from big markets (Nets, Wiz) or established franchises with history (Pacers). Now that we play a small market team with no real national following, it's an absolute lock we get the Saturday afternoon slot again.

They already released the time slots for the first weekend...

For those that don't want to bother, the games are at 3:00, 5:30, 8:00, 10:30 on both Sat and Sun. We will almost certainly be getting the 3:00 time slot as it historically is used for the matchup they expect to get the lowest ratings in the US.
