I just can't get over what the Browns had to do to get that first pick. I have never, ever seen a choke job as bad as the one they pulled against a Steelers team that had benched their starting QB, RB, and top WR. It's as if they willed themselves to defeat.

To recap: After going ahead 14-0, RGIII threw an INT at the Pittsburgh 2 on first and 10 from the 17 on a terrible read. The Browns got the ball back on their own 47, and on the first play the center snapped it over RGIII's head, ceding possession to Pittsburgh at the Cleveland 37 and leading to Pittsburgh's first TD with 39 seconds remaining in the half. In the third quarter, Cleveland intercepted Landry Jones and returned it 67 yards - but fumbled on the one, resulting in a touchback. Immediate seven-point swing. Pittsburgh tied the game on the next possession. Cleveland then drove down to the Pittsburgh 31 and missed a 49-yard FG. Pittsburgh went ahead on the next possession, but Cleveland broke a long run and tied it. After a good defensive, Cleveland had a 17-yard punt return to set up a drive starting from midfield with a minute-thirty remaining. Cleveland breaks off a big pass play, and then on first and ten from the five with 1:04 left in the game, Crowell fumbled on the three yard line. Overtime. Where it inexplicably gets worse. Cleveland drove the field and had first and goal from the Pittsburg two. On a day in which Isaiah Crowell rushed for 152 yards on 19 carries (and even if you take away his one big run, averaged 4.7 YPC) - though admittedly had also just fumbled on the two - they called three pass plays, resulting in an incompletion, a completion that went for -14 yards, and another incompletion. They settled for a FG, couldn't stop Pittsburgh on 4th and 2, and then promptly surrendered a 26-yard TD. So brutal to watch the end of that one....

And yes, for those keeping score at home, that's three turnovers inside the opponent's three yard line - two coming on first downs and one on an INT return - a missed FG, and a drive to put away the game in which they couldn't punch it in with three downs from the two.

I can see this being true since the Browns really have nothing to gain from letting this information out unless they are trying to bait someone into a trade.

And the debate with them is probably legit since they know Mitch QB is a position that you either have it or you don't. So if they evaluated the QB class and came to the conclusion that Mitch is the only one that they feel has a real legit shot at being a great QB they have no choice but to consider it.

Mitchell Trubisky - QB - Tar Heels

49ers GM John Lynch says he's willing to trade the No. 2 overall pick.

"We’re open for business," Lynch said. "We’ll listen to anything. There’s interest." This is no surprise. Mike Freeman reported earlier in the day that San Francisco wanted to trade out of the No. 2 pick "pretty bad." It'll be interesting to see what kind of market Lynch can drum up for the slot. With Cleveland expected to take Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett at No. 1 overall, Lynch has to be hoping that another franchise becomes smitten with a prospect like UNC QB Mitch Trubisky or LSU RB Leonard Fournette and makes an aggressive offer to move up the board. Most industry mock drafts have the 49ers taking Stanford DE Solomon Thomas at No. 2 at the moment.

To trade or not to trade, that is the question....

Two firsts better be coming out of trading the #2 overall pick at least.

It's going to depend who's there. If the rumors are true, and the Browns don't take Garrett, then I think we make the pick (barring an absolute bonanza of picks, and even then I lean toward Garrett). If they take Garrett, I'd probably take any decent trade we can get. There are a bunch of defensive players I'd love to get in this draft - but none I'm thrilled about taking with the second pick.

We better not trade out.

Mitch Trubisky or Solomon Thomas.

Make it happen John.

Only way we should pass on Trub is if we trade back into the first for Kizer. That's it.

If Myles or Mitch (one of the two) isn't a 49er, 2017 will go down as one of those drafts that will enrage me for the rest of my life (like 2004 when the Niners passed on Wilfork to trade down for Rashaun Woods).

Yes trade down, outside of Myles I don't like anyone at #2

With any team potentially could offer next years first, I've always like what Tennessee could give us with their immediate two first rd picks....

plus we drop to 5th IIRC so thats not a big deal... and we get a teens pick....

that be a trade I've welcome the most at the moment.

Draft is two weeks away!

Tennessee would be nice if they'd give up their two firsts. Another choice is Cleveland, I'd take #12,#33 and next year's first. Chances are that Cleveland will be horrible again and with the QB's at the top next year, it would be wise to wait until then and get our franchise guy.

Exactly. I think we can still get an excellent defensive player with the 12th pick. We can even trade with again a few spots with the Panthers to ensure that we get a player with stardom potential. All it would probably take is throw in our 4th pick. Getting a 2018 first from Cleveland would be ideal.

My prediction is they trade the pick to either Carolina or the Browns.

There has been some smoke about Carolina wanting the pick and it seems like their mindset is if they could get a guy like Fournette how much better their offense would be and how much it would help Newton.

And the Browns could be thinking about instead of deciding between Garrett and Trubs why not get both? They have the picks to do it and getting an elite pass rusher and franchise QB would be worth the picks.

I think the most likely outcome is that they can't trade down and they will have to pick someone with this pick.

Probably should be prepared to make the best out of it.
