Sacramento - a bonus. They have some decent players and play the right way. Obviously though, Kings fans must be very upset that they have botched the tank job...

Timberwolves - They should be miles clear of the Mavs. Embarrassing season for them. But this is the NBA, perennial bad team gets rewarded again with another high pick. Pelicans - the same as the wolves, but I give them more of a pass. Some injuries/bad players/a couple of tough losses.

Tonight

- Rockets will surely rest/manage their players, but they still are more than good enough to handle the Wolves, even if they don't rest their 'studs'. But you'd think even Thibodeau would rest his players on a back to back to finish the year. If they play their starters again the full game and don't win...

- The Clippers are still fighting for home court advantage, so they will not rest anyone. What could help is if somehow the Jazz lose earlier to the Spurs and then the Clippers ease up in the 2nd half. Not to forget - the Kings came back from a 19 point lead against the Clippers recently. But yeah, I assume the Kings lose.

Mavs vs Grizzlies

The Mavs are likely fielding all bench guys, so even though the Grizzlies end of the bench didn't look very good against the Pistons the other day, it's highly unlikely the Mavs beat anyone if they experiment with the lineups the way they've done in some of the previous games.

It'd be a very Mavs thing to do if they somehow won, but I won't be that upset if they do. As long as it's the end of the bench guys coming through to get the win, it's fine.

And also, a team like the Wolves should give everyone some perspective on how top picks and top talent don't solve anything quickly. Some people fawn about that team, they've been terrible for ages and still can't finish with a better record than the Mavs when they tank hard and have been hit by injuries. It's very symbolic. Ultimately it is not worth it losing sleep over finishing 8th, 9th or 10th.

Either that or Yogi Ferrell scores 30 on the Grizzlies. Whichever comes first. :o

I wonder if Brussino will break out next season? Just think back to how Dirk looked his first NBA season. Maybe Brussino can have that type improvement next two seasons, not close to Dirk's level but maybe to starter level.

Even against a bench lineup the game is still close.

Tough to think of an exact comparison at the moment, but he's got a solid offensive IQ, very active on both ends of floor, clearly still developing though.

Maybe with Carlisle's help, this guy may become a solid contributor to the Mavericks in the long run.

I hope and think so, he also should be moving up on the Argentinean team with Ginobili and other retiring, which should help him.

Well, Carlisle tried to tank with the young guys, but they wanted to prove themselves.

Just like how the Magic fans are going off about on their board. Can't tank for winning or losing :nonono:

And before I forget, the Grizzlies lose another one to end this what I call the most inconsistent Grizzlies season in a long time. :noway:

Best of luck to the Mavs as they go into the offseason and may whoever you pick in the draft works out for you guys in the long run. Also a shout out to Dirk and Chuck for help me make this collabo possible. Thx!

Yes, thanks to the users who stopped by to make a post or two. I personally just can't be online during games.

The highlight of the game was this... https://streamable.com/3ifut

Memphis and tanking.

I would still probably say it's better to have a competitive team than to be in the situation of rooting for your team to lose.. although the fans probably think they're good because they are in the lottery every year or something. I am beginning to despise teams like the Wolves, Sixers and the like. It's a total embarrassment that the NBA is a league where teams like these lose every year and get rewarded with high picks. I can only hope that they draft yet another bust, although of course, with so many trips to the lottery... they are always bound to get lucky.

Memphis has had terrible luck with injuries, although there was always the risk with Parsons and some of the guys are getting old. Still, I would say... I would prefer just ride out the Gasol/Conley combo. A team can tank/blow it up at any time... but that is never a guarantee that the outcome will be a better team that you have now... and the process may be long and painful. These two may never win a title or make the conference finals but that's ok - the competitive reality of the NBA (superstar joining up, tanking) is terrible. It encourages bad basketball, losing. It makes me question how much emotion I should invest in what is essentially a freak show --- 80% of the teams don't even have a chance at winning. Good teams are mocked as 'tread-milling', awful teams are admired and rewarded.
