Predict our draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft

Post#1 » by Han Solo » Thu Apr 13, 2017 2:11 am

Assuming we stay at 12 (if we move into top 3 or trade out of our spot, this will just be a dead thread) - Remaining at 12, choose one player as your prediction and we will revisit this thread after the draft and see if anyone guessed right.

I'll start it off -

My pick is Terrance Ferguson. I think his draft stock will rise during the process and he will be a possible Caldwell-Pope replacement. Supposedly he's knock down three point shooter and Van Gundy will need some talent coming in at the 2.

Zach Collins :(

I really like Ferguson but he is a high risk at 12 imo. Someone said it best "2K Ferguson"

If we move up Dennis Smith.

Stay put Im thinking Justin Jackson.

Justin Jackson, I think KCP leaves and SVG needs to add another wing.

I'm just gonna say Miles Bridges. Still holding out hope that the lottery gods smile upon us though.

DraftExpress has Ntilikina to Charlotte at 11. I don't think they'll take him with Kemba there. So he may drop to us...

Another option if trading up doesn't work out and we don't like who's available at 12, is to trade down. I can't remember a draft class that was this hyped and maybe someone will overpay for a lottery pick. But we could still reap the rewards of how deep the class is. Maybe move to a late 1st, get a future 1st, and dump Reggie on some team. That would be a sick haul.

I was reading yesterday that Bridges was cancelling workouts and agent meetings. Word is, he's staying a Spartan.

As for us at 12, I think who ever drops from the top 10. Probably Markannen, another slow footed big who can shoot and can't defend.

Justin Patton - Good hands, Nimble feet, Quick leaper with an even faster second jump - good outside touch. Still raw and will need to get stronger.

I imagine SVG will play Boban and Leuer heavy backup minutes at the five while Patton gets some burn in the developmental league.

Zach Collins or Terrance Ferguson
Zach because he's too good to pass up,
Terrance because he's a shooter that can backup KCP, and Reggie Bullock might get injured again and miss half the season
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

I see Collins and Ntilikina getting picked before our pick, so: Donovan Mitchell.

I wanna see who we bring in for our draft workouts though first.

Ntilikina is definitely the guy I'm hoping drops to us but if not I really like Collins or Mitchell. Maybe even do like a Reggie and our pick for both of Brooklyns 1st rounders depending on how it all plays out.

This is basically my line of thinking right now.
