Damn. Increased my fear for Biid. He's fragile.

I'm more worried about the end of the story... Embiid will be back in Philadelphia soon to continue his rehab under the guidance of the Sixers Medical team!!!! Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!! Keep them the hell away from him!

So hang on... Embiid has just confirmed that the 76ers front office once again flat out lied to the fans about the seriousness of his injury.

He said he went into that surgery being told it was a full tear and a 6+ month rehab.... yet the front office continually told us it was a minor surgery. WTF???

More should be being made of this... and the 76ers front office once again not being transparent.

The article did make me cringe again. It once confirms that the meniscus injury was way more severe than their initial guess and the Houston game was completely uncalled for.

However, this is HUGE news. This will be Embiid's first summer without rehabbing from an injury and therefore a long period of time that he can spend on his lower body strength. Same goes for Simmons, I hope he spends the summer with some shooting coach not named John Townsend. Shame that Dario has all these international obligations, he should rest and work on his flat shot.

Bryan Colangelo just dodged a huge bullet by Embiid not having a full tear. Of course, Embiid just let the cat out of the bag anyway. lol

It was awesome to see Embiid say he was going to work on his lower body strength during the offseason. Hopefully his falls won't look as awkward next year and there will be less of a chance for injury.

I'm not sure if this was already posted here, but if not, Embiid is in the episode of Open Court. Not sure though why he is not included in the thumbnail.

EDIT: Joel said he wants to be a point guard when it is all said and done. :D

He needs to take Ballet or something, so he can learn how to land from jumps.

Why did this increase your fear? His injury wasn't actually as severe as doctors initially expected. That's good, no?

"Embiid's foot hasn't fully healed. He will need a second operation." - Sixers
"My fracture re-opened." - Embiid

"Embiid is going through surgery for a minor meniscus tear." - Sixers
"They told me it was a major tear. I'm lucky that it was minor." - Embiid

The 76ers must work part time in politics. So much dishonesty.

The way to fall is to try to land on your arms instead of legs. If you break something in your arm, it will heal fully, whereas if you have a cartilage tear, it will not grow back, if you remove it. Generally, it takes about 2 arthroscopic surgery to start losing your athleticism, so Embiid's margin of error is gone.

Another way to avoid falling is to be dominant physically that you don't have to jump extremely hard to make a play. The phrase the higher you jump, the harder you fall applies here. If I'm Embiid, I'd also add a lot of upper body strength so that he doesn't have to try too hard for those rebounds, and not try too hard on those shot blocks.

He is already one of the strongest players in the league. I don't think lack of strength hurts him anywhere.

However, if there is a way to help him landing better that would be a big help.

His balance could be improved too.

Does anyone else find themselves kind of blown away at just how muscular Joel got in the time since he left Kansas?

I mean, I knew he would add some muscle, but it really is incredible how he went from this somewhat lanky big to a legit force in the paint.

I remember thinking his ceiling was that of DeAndre Jordan since he didn't take a lot of outside shots at Kansas and I thought he would stay skinny. Turns out I was wrong.

Here's a pic of him next to Andrew Wiggins right before they were at Kansas

Do not think he was DeAndre... He has zero offensive talent... Joel was showing new moves every game (dream shake, turn around, drop step, and a developing jumper). I also believe people said that he had a good frame that could accommodate more muscle/weight.

i don't think anyone was expecting the growth he made in those two years, but when you have that much time with professional trainers, and you're not losing the body weight/muscle you put on in the offseason, because your offseason is essentially 2 years, it makes sense that he was able to become that big.

And about the whole Embiid playing against the Rockets in prime time thing

In all fairness to BC, that was a really good game. Great tank game, Embiid played out of his mind. Harden just topped him. Nothing to be ashamed of. I'm not saying I'm happy they made him play, but I am at least happy that he played well.
