I would have loved to have won but with all my injuries I'm happy with 3rd and moving up to the premier league. Went from china to premier in 3 years.

Big ups to Miyagi in the dynasty league - was a great 1-2 run at the end with a few of us straddlers admiring the view at the top!

I came 3rd, happy with that after losing Jabari the day I traded for him, having Blake miss a good chunk as well as Boogie, Vooch and Winslow missing enough to be annoying. But anyway, a good season and hopefully everyone's back next year.

Prem League...Pretty chuffed to win that after picking in that annoying 12 spot.

Top 4 horses did the business with Wall, PG13, Gobert and Jokic. The Gobert for Klay trade at just before the midpoint did it, as I was toiling in 3s and PTS. Gobert crushed it after I moved him but Klay's stats were what was needed. Favourite pick-up of the season was James Johnson, that dude was a roto boss. Looking at my draft I did some HORRIBLE picks as well as dropping Payton way too early, as well as TJ!

So how does next season's draft work out now for the Dynasty League?

I'm Remy Cerys on that one.

CK Calgary Strip on D League :D

I don't know exactly. I think we first have to determine our keepers and release everyone else...I think we have 7..it's in the rules..there is a certain date to decide this. Then with them and the rookies, that will be the draft pool and draft will be in reverse order of standings.

I mentioned that earlier in this thread, that we should probably have a running tally of season ending results added up to show which teams have been consistently good. It probably won't make that big of a difference unless some major superstar is coming out in the draft, like a LeBron.

I reckon we need to include draft picks for trading etc too...

Maybe we weight the standings?

OR...Whoever finished last gets the Nets, second to last gets the Suns, third to last gets the Lakers etc etc. So our draft order basically follows the actual (...potentially rigged... ) proper NBA lottery?

Nice to finish 2nd straight on my return to the premier league, I still got it

Tastic was clear ahead of the pack, and it was a close race for 2nd going back and forth between Zero Tolerance, KJG, and myself over the last couple months, until Zero started slumping over the last couple weeks.

Congrats Kiwi, I believe u now have now joined me in having 2 premiership titles?

Buttsmasher your team destroyed. Completely dominated. Considering you picked 2nd to last, you completely crushed the draft! I'm happy I finished top 3 with Durant/Griffin/Melo getting hurt. I picked up Beal in multiple leagues and he destroyed his pre-draft ranking. Almost dropped Teague early in the year as he wasn't producing, but he obviously turned it around.
Also I don't believe I've ever hit the maximum games played in ROTO leagues, I always underestimate, especially with injuries.
Shoutout to Tastic who gave me some solid advice of being proactive on the waiver wire.

I got really luck with IT being available at #37 and having a career year. Such a good player to pair with the Giannis/ Draymond combo. Jokic was awesome value at #41 too. Those 4 were huge. Trading Myles for Klay and Monroe when their value was down helped. Traded up to #113 for George Hill. That was pretty good when he was healthy. And Bev/Harris on the wire were great for me.

I love roto because I can't have my heart broken in the playoffs.

So both teams picked 2nd to last and had Jokic, Turner and Klay at some point. You had IT and I had Wall.

Landing an elite point guard early is easily one of the top 2-3 most important 'things' for roto...

This earns you the right to list who would be in each league next year pending people dropping out...other than top 3 in premier and bottom 3 in CBA, every top and bottom 3 move up/down a league. GO!

As prem league champ, I'll pass 8-)

How do we avoid tanking in the dynasty league though.

I think assign the bottom 8 teams an NBA team as per the bottom 8 in the standings.

As they're called in the lottery, that's where they pick. I chose 8 as nearly 50% of teams (14/30) are in the lottery in the NBA, so 50% of our 16 team league is 8.

Ignoring NBA teams 9-14 who could potentially jump up and land a top 4 pick, the order the balls come out for these 8 teams would be the order we draft. The top 8 teams would simply be in reverse of the standings. So assuming the balls come out as per the end of year standings (obviously that NEVER happens), it would look like this:

Image

So while this is obviously how our league turned out simply in reverse, the wrinkle is the ping pong balls never come out the exact way they're weighted. Teamwordsenuff could jump up and land the #1 pick, while Will Work for Stats could drop to 4th but no lower.

What does everyone think?

It's tough to change the rules now, but using the similar lottery wouldn't make it totally unfair, however it's funny you mention "obviously this never happens" because last year it did. No one moved up or down anywhere. I don't know if it was the first time but it was rare.

Ha, I didn't think that had ever happened, let alone last season!

I think we need to 'tweak' them though.

This was the first season so changing the draft rules isn't too big an issue (as long as consensus agrees) as this is our first results based draft, rather than random order to start the dynasty league off.

I think we need to include draft pick trading as well...

Anti tanking is important and draft pick trades make the offseason more fun. Definitely agree to both ideas. Could make it via thread polls

Why not at the 9-14 teams to the 3-8 odds? So you'd have:
25.0% (Brooklyn)
19.9% (Phoenix)
17.3% (Los Angeles+Dallas)
13.0% (Philadelphia+New Orleans)
9.6% (Orlando+Charlotte)
6.0% (Minnesota+Detroit)
5.9% (New York+Denver)
3.3% (Sacramento+Miami)
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Return to Phoenix Suns
