The next evolution in the young Leafs is to stop the constant choking...The curse from previous teams has been placed on them.
For them to get to the next level they must break this curse.

The moment I saw Marincin clear the puck into traffic instead away, I knew it was over. I think everyone thought he was going to clear it behind the net

50 years is a lot of choking. But hey, if the Cubs could break their curse, the Leafs will too.

Yeah with the Cubs winning the World Series anything is possible now. I actually think they have had way more
choke jobs and complete melt downs over the decades then the Cubs have.

It doesn't matter who wears the sweater the same thing seems to keep happening like ground hog day. They
should make a statue of Nikolai Borchevskey in Legends Row because it was one of the few rare times a Leaf
player came through in the clutch in a big game.

As for this group it's hard to rail on a bunch of kids who shouldn't even be here. The Leafs could actually use
a guy like Justin Williams who's made a career off of being clutch and scoring big goals.

It's hard to say the Leafs have choked often (except that Boston game 7) because they really weren't favored to win all that often. Most of the time they overachieved and fell short to better teams. We've had bad management for so long that they never really built a serious contender. Those Sundin teams in the early 2000s were good but not great. They often actually overachieved in the playoffs.

We were screwed in 93 though. That was the year we should have got to the finals.

Normally I would blame the goalie on the soft goal but their is so much that Andersen can handle; Caps went up another notch in the 2nd as the leafs stop skating. Aside from that pretty good game onto Saturday Game 2 after the Raptors Game 1

The fault of the goal was Marincin's bad clearing attempt. Like I said, nobody expected him to pass it right at Wilson, even Andersen. And it flew over Andersen's shoulder. He did not see the angle to stop it.

Tough loss. I feel like the team just stopped playing its natural game after giving up the tying 2nd goal. Feels like we just started waiting for something bad to happen. Ah well, can't fault these guys too much. First playoff game for many of them, and against the top team in the East no less.

Played great to start the game but it was clear in periods 2 and 3 and OT that Washington was better team. Still a good first showing. I watched the Oilers and Sharks game in full (only other game I've seen so far) which was also a 2-0 that turned into a 3-2 OT loss and I think Leafs had a more optimistic showing even if it wasn't reflected in the score, Oilers were really getting daddy dicked the last few periods

Return to Toronto Maple Leafs
