To be honest my hopes are more not making the wrong moves (Maxing KCP, giving a 4 year deal to someone like gallinari...) then i am getting big targets. We need to avoid the bazemorre/crabbe type land mines. i think we have a solid future if we make good decisions.

either hgih priced vets who can get us to wins (hill/millsap) or cheap under the raded 1+1 deals to roll the cap space. or stealing a young RFA who is worth it (KCP not worth it).

KCP is worth it at a certain price. KCP/LeVert on the wing is intriguing. But maybe KJ makes it easier for us to pass on KCP.

I like OPJ, but hell definitely need a max to steal from the wizards.

I would definitely max Porter. One elite skill (3pt shooting), one very good skill (defense) and room to grow in other areas.

The big question to me is what do vets like lopez, lin and others bring back?

And are there contracts packaged with assets available?

I'd target Jeanne in the draft. I'd see if Orlando was ready to move on from Hezonja.

It's going to be a challenge for the nets to find good value in free agency. Tony Snell had a good year in Milwaukee. That might be a player the Nets can actually land. He can defend and shoot the ball well. Down the stretch only korver was better.

There's little reason to trade Lin or Lopez if the return isn't a no brainer. We also need to have continuity and at least give these kids a chance to win some games. That's not happening without our two vets.

If the Nets max KCP I will be a bit scared, but I will trust Marks and Langdon until otherwise. KCP seems to be trending upward statistically and I think his DUI was an honest error in judgement based off of what I've seen. Price point and DUI aside, he'd fit in perfectly with our team, offense, culture, and having Lin/KCP/LeVert/RHJ on defense would be stifling.

I understand not wanting to pay for KCP at that price point as well. Let's hope for the best.

You never know, in our offense he might make another step up production wise. Same goes for Porter, who I don't think we'd have a chance for

if we offer kcp the max, its obvious that the pistons will not match. i also dont think kcp is worth a max, he is ok but this max player is ridiculous. this will be an albatross of a contract. i really dont like it.

I have to agree. KCP is a solid player and a legitimate starter. And I know the era right now is different, specifically based on the salary cap, more like MLB free agency, where good but not great players get "great player money", but KCP at max is pretty much like Afflalolol or maybe if you're lucky, Wes Matthews at max, coming off their rookie scale contracts, respectively.

Basketball wise it makes sense, but at the same time, if just one of Goodwin, McDaniels or Dinwiddie truly breakout and become consistent everyday plus value starters, it makes KCP expendable yet hard to move, if he doesn't dramatically improve on his current abilities and level of play.

If 2 of those 3, or 1 of those 3 and someone we draft breaks out, it makes KCP damn near obsolete to us and pretty much a max contract 6xth man.

As Mr. DB said, I'll continue to trust Marks and co., so I won't hate the move if it happens, but I'm definitely going to have some reservations on the move.

I think we're set at PG and SG for the foreseeable future. So SF is my priority. There should be a solid high upside kid to take in the draft. If the bpa happens to be a different position than I go hard after Porter (somewhat realistic) or Hayward (next to impossible).

Porter is the perfect young wing you max. He's got great size for his position, is a 3 and D and has more room to grow offensively. Hayward would be our superstar and his worth is self explanatory.

For big men I go after Olynyk and Noel. Noel is younger than many kids in this draft and also has room to grow in most areas. He's someone who can either back up Lopez or take over if Lopez is dealt. Olynyk is a poor man's Lopez and I'd only want him if Lopez is traded. There are several intriguing forwards in the draft who should be available in the 20s. Part of me wouldn't mind trading one of those 1st round picks for a 2017 2nd and 2018 1st.

The draft alone should inject enough talent to provide hope and FA success on top of that could get us to .500 in a very weak East. It's obviously farfetched though.

Didn't BBallBreakdown statistically prove Kelly Olynick is the most average player in the NBA? He wouldn't do anything to move the Nets in the right direction.

Noel probably isn't leaving Dallas either. These threads are more engaging when they're at least tangentially realistic.

I also doubt Utah would break up its fist playoff team in years considering it was a league leading roster at full strength.

Didn't Sean Marks come out and say he's not maxing someone who'd only lock the Nets as a 30 win team? He's not gonna max Porter on the whim that he might eventually become a primary offensive threat.

He offered Crabbe a huge deal who isn't close to the player Porter is so what's a few extra mill for the better player. I think Porter is the exact guy you go for this year.
