eye test, the fact he's starting in a playoff team.

I was referring to what I saw in his 20 points, 7 rebs and 4 assists game against Boston yesterday night.

Anything in particular or just the whole package?

Similar to Jae Crowder, but more fluid.

Kings outsmarted everyone it seems!

Potentially 2 top 10 picks, Hield, Skal, WCS...

That's the hope everyone here seems to want

Assuming they add a PG & a SF in the top 10...then a big next Draft they could finally be on the right track

Hennigan fired from Orlando GM. They could have a fire sale as the new GM looks to right the ship and make his mark.

Let's immediately send RJ to ORL. I think they like him enough to give us Elfrid.

Or if we can somehow steal away Vucevic, that would be nice too.

Was actually thinking ORL can give us their top 5 pick and we'll release SVG to become their GM/Coach

And then cause he hates their ownership he could trade us good **** for Dre & RJ

Is there any doubt that Marc Gasol is the best center in the league?

Yes?
I'm not sure he even makes an All-NBA team this year.

Even Monroe developed far from Detroit.

That doesn't mean he's not the best.

Yeah we suck at developing talent for whatever reason. Dre is basically the same player for some time now and although KCP has improved a tick, other young guys don't even see the light of day.

Glad Monroe is doing well though. If we gave Monroe, Dre's post touches, I'm sure he would do better than Dre would.

That doesn't mean he's not the best.

I think Gobert, Towns, Davis and/or Cousins are all better, which I believe are the four considered for three All NBA spots.
I think Gasol is in the next Jokic/Whiteside/Jordan/Howard/Lopez tier. I haven't cared enough yet to subdivide that further into a third tier.

There's a lot of doubt. He's in the top 10 at the position. By saying that he is the BEST, the burden is on you to show that he's better than ALL of the names listed. I just have to show that any ONE Of them are better than Marc Gasol.

Your really under rating him. The only center who may have a case over him right now is Gobert because of how good of a defender he is. Gasol is literally good at everything on the court. Guy can play inside and outside while also being a primary play maker.

I've seen him play. He doesn't even get talked about like he's top 10 because he's understated and Memphis is small market. He's very highly skilled and has a great BBIQ.

He doesn't show up in these:
In PER he doesn't register top 20 leaguewide, but Davis and Jokic and Towns and Cousins and Gobert do.
Gobert and Jordan and Jokic and Howard and Towns are top 20 leaguewide in true shooting percentage.
In EFG, Jordan and Gobert and Howard and Jokic and Towns are top 20 while Gasol isn't.
Offensive win shares? Towns, Gobert, Jokic, Jordan.
Offensive rating? Gobert, Jordan, Jokic, Towns.

In value over replacement player, Gobert and Towns and Cousins and Jokic are ahead of him. He's 5th for centers.
In defensive plus minus, Gobert and Cousins and Davis and Jordan (and Drummond) and Howard are ahead of him.
In defensive box plus/minus, he's 20th leaguewide, behind Gobert and Cousins (and Drummond) and Howard and Davis.
In block percentage, Gobert (and Turner) and Whiteside and Davis and Jordan and B Lopez are ahead of him. He's 15th leaguewide.
In defensive win shares, Gobert (and Drummond) and Whiteside and Davis and Jordan and Howard and Cousins (and Turner) are ahead of him. He's 10th for centers.
In box plus/minus, Jokic and Cousins and Gobert and Towns are ahead of him. He's 5th for centers.

**In assist percentage for centers he is second to Jokic, amongst those I identified as his peers. So yes, he is an elite passer at his position.**

I mean, he's good. and maybe some of these stats are flawed if Drummond is grading out as a strong defensive player....but on the stats that he registers highly on, there are certain players that consistently show up higher than he does.

I just don't think there are any stats that will support that he's the best C. He's good at a lot of things, and sure, if you're second best in every single category then overall it'll bear out that you're the best player, and I suppose people are looking at him holistically in that manner. He just isn't the second best at anything besides passing/playmaking. I can't find sortable stats for 3PT% for centers, but I respect his 39% very much, as well.

He's as good a defender as Gobert, Utah didn't seem to miss a beat without him yesterday. He can score with the best of them, probably the most efficient too. Great passer. His rebounding numbers have always been down because of playing next to Randolph and just the way they attack the defensive boards as a team, that's why his PER is lower than some of those empty stats guys.

PER: 23.2>20.3. Gobert
FG%: 66.3>55.9 Gobert
TS%: .683>.554 Gobert
offensive rating: 129>111 Gobert
defensive rating: 99>106 Gobert
TRB% 21.8>>10.4 Gobert
AST%: 24.8>>5.7 Gasol by a mile
Steal%: 1.4>.9 Gasol
Block%: 6.4>3.8 Gobert
WS/48: .25>.145 Gobert
points per 100 possessions: 29.7>21.7 Gasol
Offensive win shares: 8.3>>4.2 Gobert
Offensive box plus/mis: 2>1.4 Gasol
Gasol turns it over at a higher rate but his usage is higher, so that's a wash. This also explains points per 100 possessions, and I'll concede that Gobert's statistical efficiency advantage would decrease if his usage rate matched Gasol's

Look, Gasol is more offensively skilled, due to his range and passing ability and offensive repertoire. That adds up to his team scoring only .6 more points per 100 possessions than Gobert's does....and it doesn't show that he's more efficient, not in FG%, EFG%, or TS%.

I just don't understand how you can say that he's "just as good of a defender" when I just provided literally every metric I could and Gobert came out ahead of the ENTIRE FIELD on virtually everything. I would listen if you said that Gasol is a better man defender than Gobert, but you haven't.

I don't have a horse in this race, I think both are underrated, I don't care for a lot of the centers I named prior, but goddamn! Recency bias is strong with this one; Gobert missed a game and Gasol had a good game. Great. Nonetheless, Gobert should be DPOY and first team All-NBA and I expect Gasol to not receive any accolades. Gasol may be the more skilled player, but Gobert is quite a talent and had the better season.

I'm equally ready for this discussion to end and to agree to disagree as I am for you to tell me I'm a sucker for awards and stats.

Draymond is a bad bad man

Also CJ is legit. He might actually have more potential than Lillard at this point. His game is so complete with his elite pull up game and handles. Lillard is who he is at this point, a top 10 PG that can be a Curry-lite, but CJ is looking like more of a complete scorer IMO.

Hope so. On instagram reggie kept posting him on his way to Indy to watch game. He sat Courtside. Then after the game him and George were hanging out.

Reggie for Jeff Teague?

Let's him play with his BFF and we get a decent PG back that can distribute decently.

Edit: Nvm, I see that he's a UFA basically now.

That's okay, the Pacers can have him for free then.
