Saw them last night here in Bend. Good show overall, not the best I've seen of them. There was a little lull in the middle of the set where the energy died a little, then Spanish Techno kicked things back up for the rest of the show. Neko amazing as always.

You were lucky that Neko was with them for your show. I've only seen them live once and Neko was absent. If I had known that she wouldn't be there, I wouldn't have bought a ticket.

No luck involved... Had the same thing happen to me before. They're just not the same without her. We triple-checked before buying tix. :)

Pumped for American gods. Neil Gaiman tried to lay one of my exes in front of me once.

Don't even know the villain that you're talking about, but (and this is NOT a knock on you) I feel like saying Ledger and Nicholson's Joker's were the best villains has become such a lazy statement.

I mean, by villain are we just saying comic book movies or all movie villains in general? Great topic for discussion, if nothing else. :)

Yeah, true, I was just reaching for common reference points. Plaza's character, without spoiling anything, is a little bit comic book villain and has a little of that 'demonic' quality at times - but it's a quicksilver, complicated performance, and because of the genre, she's able to do things as an actress that you can't really do if you're, like, a Bond villain. I'm really at a loss to describe it- and it's also a performance that melds with the visuals of the show in interesting ways - so it's not, like, the kind of acting available in other films.

Actually a good film nerd reference might be this one:

My friend's ex's band.

My album of the year so far. Joy, Old Time Feeling and Z are incredible songs. Please listen to those at the very least.

Anyone see 13 Reasons Why? Found the kid annoyingly dopey at times but otherwise really well-adapted script. My daughter read the book and said the book was well done. It's like a modern day Greek tragedy. A million things have to go wrong in order for the end result to happen and if just one of them deviates, the outcome is dramatically different.

Watched three episodes and had to stop it. Ugh.

Watching season one of Fortitude now. Damn good show.

So pissed I don't have Starz right now. I usually only keep it when Power is on. May need to reup. Leftovers Season 3 is on point by the way.

Lastly, GOTG 2 today! Cannot wait....

May re-up with Starz at the end of June as well for Power. GOTG was excellent, I thought. They've done really well by this franchise I think. If it was a Marvel property, each story could exist just fine without the branding as its own encapsulated narrative.

RIP Dr. Rich Field and his fiancée. Murdered brutally in their apartment in South Boston this weekend.

I knew this guy, met him through work, unbelievably tragic.

Watching The Leftovers and Fargo right now, both are absolutely killing it. Sprinkling in some of The 100, which is surprisingly good and gritty after looking like a typical teenage drama the first few episodes. Also just finished Legion recently, probably my favorite Marvel related production so far. Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza were both amazing. We're in the golden age of television, that's for sure.
