Would it be necessary for the Clippers to give up any of the big 3 to get Paul George? AFAIK KD could have signed without parting ways with any of them, and so would have any Melo trade.
I root for players always, organizations sometimes.

I don't know how I'm ever going to forgive the Clippers' new front office.

Haha, re-read the post before yours. Yes, Paul and Griffin have cap holds of $64.7M, the salary cap is $101M. Paul George's max starts at $30.3M. DJ makes $22. 6M, so signing George requires one of them being traded or not being signed.

I think "collapse" is a bit strong, they didn't play that bad, especially with Paul making a lot of really good plays on both ends, Utah did also give a good fight, and Joe Johnson hit a great shot.

yeah i agree. didn't really play horrifically or anything, cp3 was great. blake was painful to watch but he was pretty good for the first half. i mean what can you say, utah played really great D against the team and i didn't really feel like doc made any adjustments despite their depleted frontcourt.

The problem here is Doc, as much as it sucks to say. Ive defended him time and time again, but if they lose this series Ballmer has GOT to go in another direction right?

Dodgers have fizzled out of the playoffs like the Clippers have every year since 2013. He still finds a soft spot in his heart to pick us EVERY YEAR.

I've never really been a fan of his perspective on sports any way, so I can live with him talking **** about my team.

Not the biggest fan of Plashke but lets be honest, with the Lakers down and out for the past 3 years or so we've squander golden opportunity after opportunity to take a nice chunk out of the LA market. When the lights are bright in the postseason we wither and wilt under the pressure year in and year out. I love the Clipps and will always be a fan but lets keep it real- why should anybody in LA take us seriously as a team when all we do is choke and disappoint year in and year out???

Also we have a very unlikeable team. We're the whiners and crybabies and we have the State Farm and Kia adds. Me and a couple of other Clip fans were saying that if we had a high motor-fighter-grind it out player like a Westbrook, Harder, Lillard, or Kawhi Leonard type player on the team we would major love in the city. Even if we weren't a championship caliber we would have a player that basketball fans respect and want to see. A Laker fan would be like, "Its purple and gold til I die but I love watching Westbrook or Kawhi". We don't have that at all. Its even hard for Clipper fans to get up for this team.

With this team we just had to get over the hump at least once.. then we could get a pass here and there. That Houston choke still looms over us maybe more so now than when it happened. We're fans but step outside the Clipper box and view the team objectively.

i might agree with you about market share but the lakers are the most popular team in the league for reasons that have almost nothing to do with their being bad.

i don't think it matters how good the clippers are, unless of course we had a player as visible and popular the way lebron/curry/westbrook are.

We haven't squandered any golden opportunity. As much as I love my Clippers, we have NEVER been the odds on favorite to win the championship in the CP era. That leads you to your next step - we've squandered silver (lesser than gold) opportunities to do things like make a finals, conference finals? This is Los Angeles. The Lakers have 16 championships. It's not hard to see that when the Clippers eventually make the conference finals that the goal post will be moved to the finals or some rendition of "we're the lakers yo. we only hang championship banners."

Further, if you actually think us winning in LA is going to do anything to help us with market share, I'd suggest the dint it would make would be very minimal. LA fans may be lazy. They may come late and leave early (which is overblown imo), but they aren't going to switch teams. The White Sox have won. The Mets have won. Cubs and Yankees towns respectively.

Moreover, I don't care how people view our team. Fans are fickle, coming to conclusions without reason and filling in the gaps later with stuff like flopping, crying to refs, Curry chewing his mouth guard and shimmying.

I don't want a pass. I no longer care about grown men losing their **** on their couch at the sight of another man flopping or talking to a referee. I just want to get better and win.

Not Buying Doc's Prescribed BS

Post#111 » by Ranma » Tue Apr 18, 2017 6:35 pm

Doc really is full of it. How can anybody who hasn't advanced the Clippers beyond the 2nd round in the postseason say with a straight face that this team is "really close" to winning a championship or that it's even proven itself? Most people aren't as gullible as DeAndre Jordan. Hopefully, neither is our owner.

Gotta love how the first comparison he can think of is a team that stayed together for a long time and never won anything - the exact situation that every fan wants to avoid and Doc was brought in to prevent.

No doubt about it, LA will always be a Laker town no matter what. I wasn't saying take over the city. I mean taking a nice piece out of the sports landscape of LA. Take what's rightfully ours. LA will always be Lakers & Dodgers number one and two however you slot them. But this is the perfect, perfect, perfect opportunity to carve out a nice niche in the city.

LA will always be a Laker town no doubt about it. With a 18 million metro we don't need people to switch over from being Laker fans. We have our own fanbase plus you still have 2-5 million or so who will teeter the fence and cheer on whichever LA team winning at the moment. Lets not act like that crowd doesn't exist. Not even talking championships but at least deep deep playoff runs- IMO we have squander these last few years with the expectations we have for this team and the Lakers becoming one of the worst teams in the league.

DieHardFan wrote:This is by far the worst Blake Griffin performance i ever saw. i witnessed some bad games form him here or there but there were always a fact that the guy defending him was a great defender like Ibaka,Draymond, Adams, Bogut or injury issues bothering him. Today we saw him againist Gobertless Utah with 36 years old Joe Johnson was the main defender on him. No excuse, no place to hide. Pure disappointment.

Also another fact is, this performance come up the worst possible time you could imagine. All the world saw(we saw it from Turkey!!) a little stats about Blake's 4th quarters letdowns while international televised broadcast perfectly demonstrating that statsheet was cold hard fact! I mean, yeah that Toronto incident was huge hit in his offcourt reputation but this is about his game. The "fake superstar"tag will be all over on him after today, even he would just come back from there and avarege 30 ppg on rest of the series. No one wil buy that and remember tonight and that little 4th Q statistic.

My only hope remains for this year is Doc will be gone entirely as soon as we eliminated from Playoffs. We really need fresh air before make any offseason move.

On top of all that, add "made it by glass" tag on it. Such a disaster series he'd been dealt.
