I have Deng as a very important offensive (2nd or 3rd option), backup PF.

In my mind, if he plays anywhere like he did in Miami (after all-star break), Deng will and should challenge Randle for the brunt of minutes at PF.

He's already annoying to me with stuff like that. Im sick of hearing how much of a honor it is to play for the Lakers. Im tired of hearing the words excellence, greatness, honor etc...etc.

Princeinrevolt wrote:Mozgov is a pretty good positional defender, and he is a really good post defender. He basically stopped Demarcus Cousins in the start of the year. He is not a rim protector, and he never was, but our team is also a very bad defensive team, so you can't blame him.
Zubac is still not ready, and there is nothing wrong w/ that he is extremely weak, and is only 20. Mozgov should still start over him next year if we make no roster changes.
Also, he is in one of our only lineups that has a positive plus/minus. And this lineup played a lot together, Russell/Young/Deng/Randle/Mozgov.

We were out of the playoff hunt and we wanted to develop young players, that's why we sat Mozgov, if we were in the playoff hunt then there is no way we would play Zubac over Mozgov. Mozgov is a decent defensive center to have, solid passer and a great low post defender, he understands the game. Only bad thing about his contract was that we just signed him for too long. It would have been nice if the contract was for 2 years instead of 4 because he is getting old.

Waiting for him to say something that gives me confidence that he's more than just Magic's math/contract guy.

I feel like Deng has acted like a true professional about his role reduction, less so Mozgov.

Nance should start at center if they're really trying to win.

Mozgov is in the 66th percentile in overall defense.
80th percentile in post up defense.
84th percentile in iso defense.

The only problem is he is offensively challenged. Can hit the midrange shot though!! So at least thats something. He should start but get only like 20 minutes a game.

We shouldn't be mad at Moz, he is who he is. Lets just be mad at Mitch and Jim for signing him to a long contract.

The team is better with Nance at center.

- Zubac wants the starting center spot next season, but does not expect it to simply be handed to him. In regard to Timofey Mozgov, he said, “Whoever can help the team win is going to be the guy who’s going to start.”

Zubac can help us win, Mozgov can't. I see what you did there Mr Zu

Black and Nance are undersized, facing centers like cousins they will get killed.

And facing pick and rolls they'd be flawless.

And, if you noticed, until Nance figures it out, the Lakers guarded the centers with more girth with Randle, and he showed some real versatility there.

With Randle guarding Cousins and the Lakers being ridiculously versatile against the pick and roll, I think the good would far outweigh the bad here.

Randle's defense is worse than Nance and Black.....

I'd take rim protection over postup/iso defense easily. Hell, look at the Jazz when they lost Gobert in this Clipper series. They might as well roll out the red carpet to the basket.

Mobile bigs that are good rim protectors are what we need. Moz ain't either one of those things. At least Zu is one of those things.

Nick Young was asked if we will see him back at Staples next year. He said ya.... when I'm playing against for another team.

He's gone. Update the salary cap hold.
