You're gonna be a great lawyer lol.

Is this supposed to be some kind of backhanded compliment? I'm sorry if I can't get mad at someone for putting family first. I'm sorry I don't hate Melo as much as other sheep here (even if I do think he should be traded). I'm sorry I don't slurp Phil off, think he can do no wrong, and buy everything he's selling. I'm sorry that I'm also the same guy who was lambasted for saying this team was **** and would be lucky to break 30 wins. Have a good day, Bill.

But at this point, probably the teams he would waive the NTC for pretty much match up with the ones that would give some value for him.

im kinda afraid its more likely the opposite. this whole thing may be nothing more then a setup for him to stay. "i could never leave my wife and kids" or "i need to be in NY to fix my marriage" . Its always been about whats best for melo, i dont see this situation changing anything for the positive.

Say he does want to try and reconcile with Lala - he's not allowed to put his family before the Knicks? I guess it's kind of a stupid question, because of course many fans will be pissed off at him for putting family before basketball, but...just...wow.

melo can stay with the knicks, it's his choice. but he then can't complain about the team not making win now moves, and he certainly can't complain when they tell him he's coming off the bench

Let's all just agree on one thing: this is one hell of a sticky situation.

Melo is gonna want what's best for him. Of course. And Knicks fans are gonna want what's best for the Knicks. Of course.

Problem is, we all have different opinions on what's actually best for the Knicks.

Good news is, Phil wants what's best for the Knicks, because what's best for the Knicks is best for Phil. Bad news is, a lot of people disagree with Phil on what's best for the Knicks

That's why I'm comfortable rooting for Phil. It's a much happier place to be, cuz dude is staying for a while.

God's speed, Phil.

I'm not about to turn this into a Phil thread so I will not respond to anything relating to him after this, but Phil is concerned with Phil, not the Knicks. Two years ain't a while. Longer than Melo might be here, sure, but not KP. So, **** off Phil is my view...but you already know that.

I've said my piece.

I agree. Phil wants what's best for Phil. He wants to get paid beaucoup bucks to enhance his legacy by turning the Knicks around.

I don't want to turn it into a Phil debate either, though. I rest my case

Hey... I like you, Paco.

dont put words into my mouth please, never said anything of the sort. I said other people shouldnt have to pay for melos cheating, or for melos wifes career. he was hired to play basketball, not be a reality show celebrity. you act as though melos the only pro sport player to have a wife and family.

What words? You said "hes doing it at a cost of other players lives, other coaches lives, and all the fans lives. everyone has to pay for Melos indescretions." Those are your exact words. If you didn't mean what I said, then what did you mean? Melo **** up, but if he wants to right his wrongs and try to fix his family in NY, what's wrong with that (aside from, you know, him still being on the Knicks).

I don't like it either way.
I stayed single because I wanted to fuq around. I did me to the fullest.

When I met my husband **** changed. I was ready.

I think we might be related.

How hard is it to divorce someone you don't love anymore. Or why fake the commitment in the first place? I would divorce my soon-to-be wife before cheating on her. There's a level of respect and expectation set. If you can't abide by it, break up. If you can't afford to go that route, that's something you should have thought about BEFORE you decided to pop the question.

Now it might not be a civil separation because of this cheating foolishness.

Bingo.
The day I want to sleep with another man will be the day I will file for a divorce. You don't do that **** to people you supposedly love.

Dude.. dude.. dude. Slow down. I like talkin bball with you, and in general, I like making friends with people here. Seriously. I already told you, I like to poke fun and make people laugh. I'm certainly not looking to insult you, man. Please don't take offense.

It's a Hallmark card but people do the most damage to the ones closest to them. It's just kind of a tragic part of life. But if you have integrity and think twice, then as you say you can pull up at the water's edge and just not do it. That's the best result of course. Doubt the escape or thrill is worth it in the end. But people do a lot of short-term-thinking things. All people do some. Just depends on how much that impulse dictates behavior for some.

The players are a perfect storm of things: Away a lot, lots of free time, lots of opportunity. Religion seems to be the thing that reels some in. But they are challenged more than most.

if you could care less if the knicks are handi-capped for 2 more years, while melo sorts out his personal life, and getting paid 30 million to do it, and then thats fine and your prerogative. I however will agree to disagree. i think hes a POS, and the fans deserve better for what they invested in him.

I don't disagree with the bold (and wholeheartedly agree with the underlined IF he did in fact do what was reported). I love the Knicks, but I'm not someone who's going to put this team above everything else in life - I can only imagine that players feel the same way (with a few exceptions, of course). If you want to be pissed off at Melo for trying to fix his family and stay in NY, that's your prerogative. I, however, will agree to disagree. Even after the reported actions he's made, if he wants to fix his family and sort out whatever demons lurk inside in NY, I can't get mad at anyone for doing that. Sorry, but I was raised such that family always comes first (even if it means trying to fix stupid things that were done to family members).
