Billy King acquired Jarrett Jack/Sergei Kerasev in a three team deal with Cleveland and Boston. Allowing Cleveland enough to bring back LeBron.

Are these the same Bulls that the Nets beat earlier in the month?

Who else is pissed that Boston overachieved into a #1 seed this season merely because of good coaching?

In reality, they are not a very good team. They can't even get past the first round.

Our pick should be way better than it is.

Cavaliers loss to Nets a wake-up call for LeBron and company

Image
It was perhaps the Nets biggest victory of the season, a 104-95 home win over the Cavaliers, a game where Brooklyn's defense, anchored by Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, held LeBron James scoreless in the fourth quarter. Ultimately, it was meaningless for the Nets, but now, the Cavs say it was crucial for them.

Tyronn Lue called a post-game meeting and talked about the team's culture.

"To change culture, you can’t treat everyone the same way," Lue said Monday. "I think it was the meeting we had in New York after the Brooklyn loss. We played the Knicks next. We had a chance to sit down and talk.

"I just think the Big Three sitting down and getting on the same page of understanding what they need from each other on a nightly basis and understanding that they have to trust each other and also trust the team. We had that talk in front of everyone and everyone kind of gave their opinion and kind of talked about what they expected and what we needed to do better. I think from that day on, we kind of took off and we became a better team."

Makes sense. The Cavs played poorly that night. With James barely contributing, Cleveland scored only 12 points in the fourth. But Kyrie Irving scored 13. Kevin Love grabbed 12 rebounds but scored only 11 points.

Former Net Richard Jefferson agreed the meeting after the Brooklyn loss was a critical point in the season.

"I think there are a lot of things that always build up into those moments," he said. "There was no reason for some of those losses that we had this year where you could see it coming. We go into OKC and win a tough road game. Ky goes down and then we lose to Detroit at home and it wasn’t even really close."

The Nets loss, he said, not one that could be explained. A week later, the Cavs crushed the Nets, 107-87, in Cleveland.

All we can say is, happy to help.

It actually makes me chuckle at the folks who thought we should stunt the development of Whiteehead/RHJ so we can prevent Boston from winning the lottery. Boston looks like a lottery team right now. That's why you can't build your future off spite on someone else.

The Celtics are a big market Atlanta Hawks.

This is going to be a hard sell to a Paul George or Hayward this off-season.

Yeah I don't get why they thought they had a chance at Hayward in the first place. Utah is a pretty great situation.

Celtics should have traded for Butler/George at the deadline when they had the chance.

Now I don't think they have a shot at either.

Maybe Blake Griffin if they're lucky.

Nets beat the Cavs towards the end of last season, Lebron flipped out on the team and they went on to win the title.

Also the Jarrett Jack trade gave Cleveland the space to get Lebron

Yup yup. Chicago will just retool around Butler and Paul George will never agree to an extension so Boston won't trade for him.

I think boston is crazt to trade the pick... Ball is gonna be a superstar and the celtics window is in 2-3 years not now when lebron is still insanely good and the warriors have a superteam.

They are better off taking fultz and using their less pick assets to get a fringe all-star

Around the NBA, 2016-17 Season thread

If the Bulls win over Boston with Butler there is zero chance on any trade happening there. He's improving his stock as a franchise player worth building around and this is his virtually his debut as 'the man'. Wade is there to mentor and be his side kick and it's working.

Paul George ain't going nowhere. I suspect more win now moves coming for Indiana and I don't see why Heyward would leave Utah. Gobert is developing nicely into a near all-star and perennial DPOY candidate. There's nobody in Boston as good as him defensively and his offense has taking a leap further.

I don't care for their drafting either. The Celtics are a version of what the Nets can be in two seasons, honestly. We'll see how good Fultz or Ball is but overall, It's not that hard to put together a collection of high end athletic role players. People in the media act like these guys are Top 10 at every position.

Al Horford...Is like a big man version of Joe Johnson. Makes big plays but goes through the motions otherwise.

I don't see Boston as a fringe star away from contending at all. They need to blow it up. They are in the same class to me right now as the Hawks, Grizzlies, Raptors. Good regular season teams that fails in the playoffs. Just like that 2012 Nets team.

Yeah I don't really buy the hype that either Ball or Fultz are going to be life changing players.

I guess if you do, then maybe.

Not to mention that Boston only has a 50% chance at getting either of these guys.

It's very possible that they end up at 3 or 4.

I also don't think Lebron is insanely good anymore. This season was his the first where I started to see him decline.

The way the Cavs are playing right now, it isn't gonna take all that much to knock them off.

If I was the Celtics I would try to pair Butler/George with Griffin and IT. That might get it done against the Cavs.

There is no way we are even considering him at the max.

I would be enraged if we did this.
