It probably just hit him, the fact that hes going to live his entire life in prison and be forced to realize everyday that he had money, fame, power and threw it all away because he killed people cause they bothered him at the bars. Pretty crazy how good he was at football though,

Also mandatory joke, he probably did it after watching the Celtics game last night

He was a criminal. He took lives of innocent people. Imagine the pain those families have to go through. Feel no sympathy at all for him

Don't feel a lot of sympathy for him to be honest.

If there are people on this earth who love you, suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness.

I'm not surprised by this at all, because Hernandez seemed to only always think of himself anyway.

He was a punk bitch for taking innocent peoples' lives, and, now, IMO, he's outdone himself, too weak to bear the mental weight of his wife and daughter struggling on the outside, too weak to look at himself in the mirror and see a man who needs repentance.

"Thug" culture is a disease. The idolatry of ignorance isn't, and has never been, "fly".

I am kind of puzzled by the timing. I thought he was acquitted of his charges not too long ago? Doesn't this mean that there was hope for him to get out of jail?

He was serving life for the Odin Lloyd case, which is what got him arrested in the first place.

No he was still doing life for Odin Lloyd's execution. I think they slipped up on security between moving him around for the other case and he somehow got the chance to plan to off himself.

I know he was a scumbag and all but man, I can never be positive about someones death knowing that their soul is in torment forever.

Incredibly sad ending to this story. Feel bad for his daughter and family who he left behind

I think it was kinda 2 fold. I think he realized that he was doing life anyways but I also think that being aquitted in the recent trial and seeing both families crying was maybe the 1st time he felt some real remorse. I think he felt that he had caused pain everywhere including his own family and did not deserve to live anymore

Imo it's usually a rational decision based on the fact that you feel that your life is no longer worth living. However, more often that not it is a result of the fear of a certain feeling or situation that might not even have occurred yet. And your mind "tricks" you into believing that dying would be better than having to go through the emotional pain you can already see coming.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.
