Listen, I was ready to give Westbrook his kudos during the first three quarters. He was amazing and made great decisions, every player was involved and when offensive players are involved they end up playing better defense too.

Then the 4th quarter happened and he basically chucked the game away from OKC.

I didn't watched the game but just saw box score. Big numbers by goat but also a lot of shots... I'd guess if he'd taken 4 threes instead of 11things would have looked a lot better for him and the thunder.

How about olidipo though? This guy should be so much better than he's showing. He's pretty disappointing atm.

How is no one talking about the fact that Westbrook basically gave up so he could hit 50?? They were down 6 with 14 seconds left and he doesn't shoot a 3? Insane. If any other player did that they would be crucified.

Westbrook had no choice... the only players that were helpful: roberson and mcdermott (why the hell was he out in the deciding minutes?)

man okc had to play grant and samaj christon (how is this guy in the nba? 7 minutes -15)

oladipo just awful...

I do think OKC will take care of their homecourt.. 2-2

Which player(s) do you think should have been carrying more of the offensive load in the 4th quarter for OKC? And why do you think the results would have been any different?

He's obviously not the sole reason, but weren't they up 3 to start the 4th,when he checked back in?

Are you sure? Oladipo was 1/7 from 3. McDermott only played 13 minutes, and Gibson only 20. We don't have other good shooter. You can blame Donovan more than Westbrook.

I get that his teammates aren't the best shooters. But collectively, they still shot better than Westbrook. Also when you're the only one taking shots after shots after shots, don't you think it becomes really predictable? Uhm, how about you devise some some plays and run them, Donovan?

Look, I'm not out here to single out Westbrook. The entire organization needs to figure out how to incorporate its own players.

Not by TS%. And who else is supposed to take these shots? Its hard to say Westbrook lost them the game when whenever he was on the floor prior to the last 6 minutes they were killing Houston.

Rockets fans trying to make a point but if Harden was in Westbrook's place, there would be no conversation tonight. No way another player than him or Lebron could lead this pathetic team to the playoff (not that he's better than Curry or Durant, but you need to spend a lot of energy to be able to win so many games with this terrible team).

That was flat out embarrassing. Second most shots taken in playoff history.

But hey, that 50 point triple double is going to draw a lot of praise by the clueless media.

MartinToVaught wrote:The agendas being pushed in here are unreal. The game was lost when Westbrook went to the bench at the end of the third quarter and the supporting cast that you guys are screaming at him to pass the ball to blew a 12-point lead. That fourth quarter would not have gone any differently if anyone else was taking more shots.

I hate heroball as much as anyone, but there is literally no other option with this Thunder team.

The Rockets also just happen to make some shots during that run. Harden hit 2 big 3s.

And it was basically a 6 point lead to start the 4th when McDermott hit a 3 ten seconds in. Russ was working with a lead to start the 4th.

I think this could be a sweep. OKC doesn't have the matchup advantages in any spot except...PG to close the gap on the vast difference in ability.

I mean WB just dropped 51 on 43 shots. Great glass intensity with contested rebounds, found 13 dimes somehow in this offensively challenged team, +11 on the night...And they lost. And they lost pretty convincingly. Score doesn't do it justice.

Houston has so many guys who can get hot. Inevitable variance doesn't even matter if you have 6 rotation guys who can all get 4 or more 3's in any given game. Not yet anyway.
Swinging for the fences.

Wow, Rockets fans must be the saltiest fans in the NBA. You guys won, no need to cry at Westbrook like little kids.

About the game I just want to point out one thing. Semaj Christon (Westbrook´s replacement) had a plus/minus of -15 in 6 minutes.

-15

In 6 minutes.

Harden led a pretty bad team to the playoffs 2 years ago.

Take Oladipo for example, he's a slasher not a shooter. The Rockets were not guarding him sell when he was slashing to the basket. Westbrook ISO ball relegates a lot of OKC's players away from their strengths, so of course if you make them stand around for 20 seconds just in case they get the ball, they are not going to shoot well.

They were outscored by 7 with Westbrook on the floor in the 4th over 12 minutes and outscored by 15 in 7 minutes without him in the rest of the game. Even as he was chucking it beat the alternative by a distance.

It's a game of 4 quarters. Westbrook's first 3 quarters were amazing but how much does it mean if he is exhausted and fades badly in the 4th. Add to that bad decisionmaking.

What makes LeBron great is he can play 44-46 minutes of really high quality basketball. Russ doesn't seem like he can.
