Realistic Drummond Trade scenarios
I see on the trade board and also on our board about dumping Dre. Yes, we are all pissed because we expected him to be Hakeem by now. And yes, he does have a huge contract so it is reasonable that we have huge expectations.
A few things good about Andre:
- He is still one of the best rebounders in the league
- He can consistently get double doubles
- He is still young enough to improve
So I would rather keep him than trade him. That being said...
If we trade him who plays center?:
- Boban is interesting but not a starter in this league
- Leuer and Ellenson would be ok for spot minutes, but again, I don't think they can start at the post against most teams
- So either we need to get a starter center back in return, or any trade proposal should have some other trade that gets us a center
And what do you expect to get back for him?
- A salary dump is not worth it, especially if we don't know who our starting center will be
- Do we want established players or draft picks? If it is draft picks, it is almost we are starting over, and is that what we want?
Bottomline, unless we get Porzingas or Cousins back, I'd rather just keep Drummond.
I think a better approach is figure out our PG situation and add a shooter or two.

Re: Realistic Drummond Trade scenarios
There's no trade where we move Drummond and "win". Our best case scenario would be using him to move into the top 8 of the draft.
Anything else would be us taking back a shorter bad contract and a future late first round pick type deal.

Interesting to say the least. Especially if they get bounced out of the playoffs.
I think Adams playing here would be better than trying to shoehorn Dre into something he will never likely be, a dominant bigman.

You're reading my mind. I thought of this EXACT trade a couple of days ago. The Knicks might be dumb enough to do it. And we can always get another PG.
PG: FA/Ish
SG: KCP/SJ
SF: Harris/Mook
PF: Melo/Ellenson
C: Porzingas/Noah/Boban
Forwards are interchangable a bit, but I like this lineup.

This.
I would be ecstatic if we could simply move up using Dre and clear his salary. It will be the albatross contract if his motivation remains the same.

I'll take it. Adams is a terrific defender that can defend out to and on the perimeter. Rebounds well too. Don't care all that much about his offense. If an offensive center isn't a stretch, mobile type that creates mismatches it doesn't really matter these days.

Re: Realistic Drummond Trade scenarios
We need that Sacramento pick at 8 to leapfrog Dallas and get either DSJ or Ntilikina. Trade him there where they may view him as a good young piece and they still have the 10th pick to grab a rookie.
Then we draft our PG at 8 and our new center at 12. Then just move Reggie and we are on track with a good new rebuild.

He's way more talented on offense than Dre.

Yeah there's zero chance the Knicks trade zingis.
I think the lakers would be a good team to look at. Mozgov and Russell would be a great return if they want to draft one of the top PGs.

Re: Realistic Drummond Trade scenarios
Drummond and #12
For
Biyombo, Hezonja and #5
Starting/platoon defensive minded center, backup SG that still has some potential to find a role in the league and a high enough pick to possibly find a difference maker for the future. Ideally we could dump Reggie on them too but Payton came on strong in the second half of the season so I think that's out of the question now.

Me too, but I don't think Orlando does that before solving their Vukcevic situation

Maybe switch Biyombo with Vuc and Orlando might go for that

I would be all for Vooch on this team over Bizmark. Vooch improved his defense this year and can score out to 3 point range and in the post. Bizmark just flat out sucks as a starter. He is not even close to worth his contract. I would do that deal with Vooch instead of Biz.

I like Vucevic a lot too but we need defense at center to pair with Boban unless we can just add both guys to the deal.
