Awesome pick. Been a big fan from the getgo. This dude is everything the Celtics have been lacking for the last 10 years. Of course has to adjust to the league first but I have a feeling that won't take long.

Afam coming back to the forum and Ante watching game 3 led to the win.

Is there any reason to think he'll be instantly able to play NBA defense? He's obviously good at narrowing the lane of a guy attacking the rim by setting up a high and fast-moving barrier. That's something, but not enough on its own.

And the videos, which are of course mainly focused on the offensive end, don't happening to be showing much else defensively.

I'd love for Zizic to instantly be a useful starter, but so far I'm betting against such a happy occurrence.

Video I posted above has every made basket in the game well, a lot of them, anyway. That's not the most useful because it's obviously showing only the unsuccessful defensive efforts. But, at least it's a little more screen time to watch Zizic doing other things.

That's the million dollar question, he's at least playing in the second best league in the world so it's the best reps he can possibly see outside of the NBA. He's gonna need a crash course in defending the NBA pick and roll game for sure though but I think due to his sheer size and rebounding ability that he cracks the rotation next year.

Thanks!

Is there something in international rules that prohibits help defense? :)

Man, Blatt is such a great coach. In just a couple of months Zizic has improved immensely. Looks much more aggressive and focused.

He will need at least one year to learn the defensive schemes and adapt to the NBA but he's going to be a player!

That was Anthony Randalph he was dunking over who played for the warriors nuggets in the nba (he played 6 seasons in the nba) and is still just 27....that is legit competition over there, D league plus, so yes its not the NBA but real madrid has real athletes many who have or could get some burn in the NBA, with that said he will need to gain strength/weight to compte in the nba without getting pushed around. The motor and size are their though, that combination alone makes him a worthwhile rotation player, we will see if he puts in the work to become more.

This. Euroleague is the second best league in the world. I'm hopeful that one day the D league can overtake it but that day is far far away.

Blatt is a great job. But Zizic didn't improve under Blatt over the last few months. Zizic is a good player. This is not the first time Blatt has coached Zizic. Blatt coached Zizic when Ante was 16 years old.
