At the end of the day, no one expected this team filled with 7 rookies to challenge a behemoth team like Washington this early. But we took these guys to overtime 5 out of the 6 games. Proud of these guys. We have legit talent on this team and the next few years watching these guys grow together and dominate will be fun. Great season boys.

what a terrific season for the buds???

also what a great series as well. razor thin margins through 6 games but the team that had the slight edge overall was the team that advanced. congrats to the caps but still can't see them beating pittsburgh though.

looking forward to the offseason now. shore up the D with one more top 4 guy (rielly and gardiner were both outstanding this series) and hopefully re-sign boyle and we'll be here again next year. and perennially now.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Taking the President's Trophy winner to 6 games, where they took them to overtime in 5 of them is no easy feat. Loads of experience has been gained. There's nothing but up from here. Proud of these boys

They needed to win the game in regulation. Once it went to OT I knew the season was over.

Nah, it was over once we got the 3rd period lead. We needed to go 0-0 into OT and not give them any chance to feel desperate. They outplayed us as soon as Matthews scored.

Unforgettable season that exceeded all expectations. We're spoiled with talent and it's about time.
