All-NBA defender or not, non-shooting perimeter players get exposed in the playoffs. It's why the Grizzlies aren't missing Tony Allen nearly as much as people thought they would (he was awful in their playoff sweep by the Spurs last year).

Not saying you shouldn't or can't find minutes for those kind of guys because they do have their situational advantages, but unless they're great distributors/on-ball guys, they're offering you absolutely nothing on the offensive end and should be used in spurts/small-ball lineups rather than in the starting 5. They're just too much of a negative there.

2nd best +/- on the team this year.

+/- is a flawed-ass stat to rely on to measure impact.

I'll look at practical impact - he literally cost his team the game yesterday by going 2-12 from the FT line. He single-handedly took away 5 possessions from them in crunch time. His team would have been better off with him on the bench.

Or the guy who's in there instead does worse than the All-NBA defender.

Who did what during crunch time? The Rockets scored on almost every one of the possessions they gained after he was fouled.

He is a great defender, but he can't guard the entire Rockets offense. He can destroy his own team's offense, though.

You'd think after the whole "trade for Crowder" crap that ended up being rightfully mocked to hell and back, Sober would pick his battles a little bit better.

I really like what Snell has brought to this team, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to break the bank on him. Definitely not 4 years 70 million. Maybe 10-12 million a year?

I'll give him what Delly got, maybe a little more. 4 years 40 million seems fair. can't pay a 7th man 15 million a year. But he is a guy you need to keep for chemistry. He's like Dudley, something about him is just what this team needs.

Bucks will probably wind up paying him around 10 million. I'd much rather go back to the scrap heap and find another underutilized role player on another team. Maybe they don't work as well as Snell did, but I think you can get 80% of what Snell brings for 80% less money.

That's a big win IMO.

Snell is overrated. He was our 5th scorer. Efficient at a position and skill needed (3s) but still 5th behind Giannis,Khris (or Jabari), Monroe, Brogdon.
So I hope the Bucks won't give him something like 17M/y like Crabbe...

Also seems weird to pick on a guy who's shooting 59% from the field and 50% (7-14) from three in the postseason.

Yes, he does his job, but I'm not sure there's a starting 2 in the NBA who is asked to produce as little as Snell does. I wouldn't pay over 6 mil a year.

Offense is only 1/2 the game.

Just because Snell doesn't put up PPG - doesn't mean he hasn't been effective.
Khris Middleton - Beating up on Trash Can Teams since 1943. Invisible Man status otherwise.

Bayless got 9M per year
Delevadova got 9.5M per year
Austin Rivers got 11.5M per year
Sessions got 6.25 per year.

This isn't 1998 anymore. The cap is going to be 108M.

This is my biggest argument when discussing this with other fans/friends. The NBA has never seen so much money than it does right now so there is so much to be made. Just looking at the above list, and not considering the other ridiculous contracts out there, I still am in the camp of wanting to keep him if its for $11mil/yr or less for a few years. He's been an incredibly important piece to this team's success this year.

I think the most important thing to look at when discussing Snell is the growth he has made this season. You can tell that he's becoming more than just a 3-and-D guy. Yes, that's his bread and butter, but we've seen him put it on the floor and attack and we've seen him pull up off the dribble.

What did Solomon Hill get, like 4/44 or so? That's pretty much what I expect Snell ends up with.

Courtney Lee got 4-yrs $48 mil. That's around what I expect him to get on the open market. If you can lock him up to a team-friendly 4-yr $40 mil contract, you do it.
