Really nothing too earth shattering about what KP said. It's good that he wants to win. I would like him not to throw his weight around at this time, but maybe it says something about how serious he is about being great and being on a great team. If so, that is a silver lining to what I consider to be insubordination.

Sounds like a bit of a critique of Melo and Rose. Possibly CLee too. Those are the only guys on the team with around 10 years in the league.

Just for sh*ts and grins, I'm going to assume he meant Melo and Rose only, because that'll get things going nicely here.

it's clear as day he meant melo and rose.

Well, I figured that at first (I think I posted that earlier) but the more I thought on it, added with "roster construction" he sounds more down on Rose.

But yeah, it could easily be both. Just speculating.

Honeymoon phase is ova. I hope for his sake he don't get hurt over there or this season. The beating he takes in the press for this will be awesome.

i agree I don't mind him putting his foot down and playing for his national team. He has the right. But doing it without speaking to the team that pays you is simply wrong.

KP is being advised by the wrong people. Communication is important. Running away from a problem does not fix it. Be the solution...

so kristaps doesn't hate phil, he's just not on board with all his moves yet which is perfectly normal for a franchise player.

i don't think anyone is on board with his moves, like ANYONE on this team.
and im pretty sure KP knows phil is going to use him as a scapegoat like he did to melo just so he can justify his horrible moves.

there you go again exaggerating.

almost everyone else is saying the same thing
you're just ignoring how bad this situation really is.
but according to you KP likes phil and wants to be triangle buddies!
good luck with that

nothing wrong at all with what he said. free agency will come someday. extensions will be offered. the franchise has an obligation to be successful to retain players. your job has to be a good workplace for you to not consider leaving it, right? loyalty is earned. knicks haven't really earned it. we'd be lucky to have it at this point.

and he def should push management to improve the team. why wouldn't he?

Knicks are a mess. No question about that. But hopefully we'll get a good pick this year and Phil will probably be gone in two years, at which point KP will be 23 years old. He should want to remain a knick because it's New York...that...and because the fans have supported him. For a young guy who has two years left on his rookie contract and hasn't really done anything major in this league he should really shut up about leaving for a better team.

It looks like he's being advised by his brother(s), because there is no way an agent would advise their client to miss an exit meeting with the front office.

Pretty much. He's at his highest value now and Phil should have the media behind him. Now would be the best time to get a good deal for this dude.

I would trade him for a top two pick. One thing I can't stand is prima donnas

I take this news the same that I take the news about skipping the exit meeting. Was it mandatory to attend that meeting? Maybe not. Was it mandatory to "clear it" with the suits to play for his country? Maybe not? It's kind of non news in a lot of ways.

they got some players now. depends on their bracket...they might could make a little noise. KP, kurucs, bertans, not every national team has 3 legit NBA players/prospects.

Latvian Twin Towers there will be. KP 7'3'' PF and this year's first-round draft pick Pasecniks 7'1'' center.

Will be fun to watch, they both were playing together very well in the U-18 tournament. :o

We also face the Kings twice in the near future. I think it's time Yabu pays back some of that free money he's been given his entire career and bounces Fox for a nice 2 week ankle sprain.

Let's hope his NT uses him as a #1 option. Anybody else from the NBA play for them?

If we draft Frank, any chance they'll play against each other?

Tell me how any of this has to do with Phil, aside from the fact that he assembled the team (and I know that's a big aside, but humor me for a moment):

-The vibes in the locker room this season were terrible
-Noah was the vocal leader they needed, needed more players like him
-Noah played in a system his whole career so he "knows how to play the right way and refuses to play another"
-Noah was the one guy who would tell players things they don't want to hear
-Shame Noah couldn't play more, because from the bench, he couldn't make up for the "stupid mistakes" the team constantly made
-KP tried to be a leader and speak up in the locker room, but you can't change guys who have been playing hero ball for 10 years (aka, can't change the spots on a leopard)
-KP's brothers were pissed about KP not getting the ball this year. During one game, Jianis broke a TV in a hotel room after watching the Knicks freeze out KP
-only thing KP says about Melo is that he's a "really chill dude", and "nothing can fire him up". AKA, he's there to collect his money and score points, and doesn't have sh*t to say, even when the team is in dire need of a leader

Melo is a BITCH and a CANCER. GTFOH.

KP loves NY, loves being a Knick, and if he doesn't love Phil, he sure as hell respects him, and will learn to respect him even more once the cancer is removed and the Knicks start playing "the right way", just as KP keeps lobbying for publicly.

Do yourself a favor and ignore the Debbie Downers on this forum. The alarmists, the fear mongers, the jealous nut jobs who can't stomach Phil's success, the neurotic wackos who think they should have been NBA execs in another life, and the seasoned posters on this board who would rather promote their own catch phrases than have a real basketball discussion.

Ignore them all. Everything is fine, because Phil is trading Melo's ass and rebuilding around KP, and you will like it.

This would be a true if it was any other team but the Knicks, who consistently have the wrong ideas and results.

it's crazy how you guys dismiss rose. maybe it's because you can't see a scenario where he's on this team next season but you're really underestimating how bad phil is at his job. i expect rose back next season.

San Antonio Spurs Davis Bertans is other NBA player out of Latvia. I don't think that Frank is gonna made it to the NT.

But KP will play against Jokic in the group stage tbh.
