Sounds like a bit of a critique of Melo and Rose. Possibly CLee too. Those are the only guys on the team with around 10 years in the league.

nothing wrong at all with what he said. free agency will come someday. extensions will be offered. the franchise has an obligation to be successful to retain players. your job has to be a good workplace for you to not consider leaving it, right? loyalty is earned. knicks haven't really earned it. we'd be lucky to have it at this point.

Knicks are a mess. No question about that. But hopefully we'll get a good pick this year and Phil will probably be gone in two years, at which point KP will be 23 years old. He should want to remain a knick because it's New York...that...and because the fans have supported him. For a young guy who has two years left on his rookie contract and hasn't really done anything major in this league he should really shut up about leaving for a better team.

I take this news the same that I take the news about skipping the exit meeting. Was it mandatory to attend that meeting? Maybe not. Was it mandatory to "clear it" with the suits to play for his country? Maybe not? It's kind of non news in a lot of ways.

It's so pathetic seeing all the same nimrods from the Melo fan club come in here and try to rile people up about KP leaving because of Phil. Meanwhile, based on all the signs and quotes KP is giving us, it's clear once again that Melo is the team's biggest problem.

Tell me how any of this has to do with Phil, aside from the fact that he assembled the team (and I know that's a big aside, but humor me for a moment):

-The vibes in the locker room this season were terrible
-Noah was the vocal leader they needed, needed more players like him
-Noah played in a system his whole career so he "knows how to play the right way and refuses to play another"
-Noah was the one guy who would tell players things they don't want to hear
-Shame Noah couldn't play more, because from the bench, he couldn't make up for the "stupid mistakes" the team constantly made
-KP tried to be a leader and speak up in the locker room, but you can't change guys who have been playing hero ball for 10 years (aka, can't change the spots on a leopard)
-KP's brothers were pissed about KP not getting the ball this year. During one game, Jianis broke a TV in a hotel room after watching the Knicks freeze out KP
-only thing KP says about Melo is that he's a "really chill dude", and "nothing can fire him up". AKA, he's there to collect his money and score points, and doesn't have sh*t to say, even when the team is in dire need of a leader
