Smart plays hard, no doubt about that, but you don't mess with Jimmy Butler. Dude's a bad ass.

On-court, Smart's a niggler, it's what he does. Jimmy's just putting him in his place.

Flopper or not Marcus Smart is who my money is on. He has a much stronger build and actually is probably "more about that life" than Butler.

I don't think Smart would manage to provoke Jimmy enough to fight or anything without actually throwing shots but he could definitely bother him given how much pressure Butler is under. Basketball is an incredibly mental game. Its easy to gain an edge over guys if they're not focused. My bet is Jimmy would stay focused but if Smart is hawking him on the ball, that could mount frustration.

This is all entertainment in theory as much as it would be in reality though.

Fans complain that the NBA is not as "tough" as it used to be. That players are all just friends now... No one hates each other like they used to. Hence why the NBA is becoming soft.

Then when stuff like this happens, fans still complain. I really don't get it.

1) No he's not one of the fattest guards in the league. He's one of the biggest guards in the league. Raymond Felton is fat. Fat guys can't keep Chris Paul, Lowry, Westbrook and Kemba Walker in front of them like Smart can.
Fat guards can't jump as high or finish with put back dunks over NBA forwards. They also can't pull off chase down rejections and pin the ball against backboard ala Lebron or Kawahi Leonard like Smart can.

2) show me more than one serial flop by Smart this season. He used to flop but barely flops any more. He is just very physical and is good at selling contact when opponents react to his physicality.

You said 'have some pride'. The dude is one of the proudest players in the NBA which is obvious with his defensive excellence and hustle.

It is street talk. Butler is saying that Smart is not about the street/thug life and is pretending to be tough on the court but really doesn't want anything really physical with Butler.

tbh, Smart does flop, and take charges, but the only guys that do that consistently well are the ones that are built like brick ****houses and can take someone running into them full speed.

I dont get what flopping has to do if a guy is tough or not or if hes "about that life". Thats just a dude trying to make plays on the defensive end and get the whistle. Ive heard stories of him from his high school days and his days in college, thats not a dude that I would call "fake tough". Im actually shocked that he hasnt had any major issues since being in the NBA when it comes to his anger. The dude is the closest thing to Ron Artest that we have in the NBA right now, hes closer to Ron Artest than MWP is. I dont think either guy are fake tough guys, with that said Id put my money on Smart.

Exactly. Butler postulates that Smart is "about that life" and wants to get into his head by challenging his manhood. If Smart gets distracted or does something stupid the Bulls come out ahead. Jimmy couldn't care less about the "dispute". Smart has been a big factor in this series.

Both are big strong dudes and they aren't going to fight. It's all head games. They would both get messed up in a real fight.

lol dude Smart is one of the most jacked guards in the league. You need to get your tv checked if you think he is fat

Flopping don't mean you don't got hands and aint about 'dat life'. Conversely, screaming in someone's face doesn't mean you are about 'dat life'....Just like being from the hood doesn't make one tough (contrary to popular belief) and being from the suburbs doesn't make one soft.
