With the 85th pick in the Same Franchise Draft (70's to Now), ChicagoSportsFan21 selects...

Spoiler:
DANNY GREEN-SG/SF-SAN ANTONIO SPURS

Image

Just extra re-assurance for Gervin's inadequate defense that Green can provide as a sixth man and can play either the 2 or 3. He's an excellent role player who can play off the ball and shoot the lights the out from distance as well as being an excellent defender. He was a key component for the Spurs winning a championship few years ago.

Goober put the fear of God into me with that Howard pick, so I'm not going to get cute here.

Robert Parish

Okay, we have a precedence that it's okay to skip if our guys can't be taken by those in front of us and I might not be up early in the morning again so I'm gonna just post my picks now.

Neither Jan nor Hooplah can take this guy, eminince could but I'm up before him. So:

Image

Dewayne Dedmon for my cheap backup C, he's been great for the Spurs this year and can provide a good 8 or 10 mpg of great D and scoring at the rim.

The next guy no-one except me can take:

Bobby Jones. I'm actually planning to take his early prime in '76, the last year of the ABA so I get the discount and he produced 15/10/4/2/2, in addition to just being one of the best defensive players ever, and this dudes coming off my bench... Just saying.

Been deprived of a championship in recent seasons, hopefully we can finally get him one, Anderson Varejao:

And I feel bad for keeping brothers apart for so long, Klay Thompson (really needed some more offensive firepower):

I'll make a bold move and pick my backup C before my starting C

Theo Ratliff

Going for a super 6th man here, even more so than Schrempf who is also coming off the bench. It's Lillard time:

I'll spare some of the suspense since neither of my last 2 guys can be taken by anyone else.

Round 7 I'll be taking Sid Moncrief as my starting PG to bring even more nasty defense to my squad.

Image

And Round 8, introducing for the SECOND time apparently, 2016-2017 Giannis Antetokounmpo to complete my super lengthy squad

^^ Actually Freak went in a previous draft game (current season)

If we can pick at any time, my eighth round selection is Kevin McHale
