Mitchell Trubisky - QB - Tar Heels

NFL Network's Mike Silver reports the Browns have discussed trade possibilities with four teams in the top eight picks.

This is likely in the hope of moving up for UNC QB Mitchell Trubisky. It is clear the front office wants to select Myles Garrett and No. 1, but pressure from another area of the team is pushing a Trubisky selection, which ultimately could be a trade up. The Browns have draft ammo, but a major part of their plan is to acquire as many picks as possible, not use them as a possible trade up for a quarterback with 13 starts. But if the influence is from the owner, the team might not have a choice.

Christian McCaffrey - RB - Cardinal

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah said he would not be surprised if Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey goes off the board before the No. 8 pick.

The No. 8 pick was highlighted since the Panthers are frequently mentioned as targeting McCaffrey. Rotoworld's Josh Norris suggested early Tuesday that the Chargers might be a destination. Jeremiah added "here's the thing with McCaffrey--even teams with established RB's love him. They can use him so many ways." That certainly lines up with the Chargers offense and current situation at running back.

Jon Robinson - G - Titans

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Titans "already have received offers" for their No. 5 overall pick and are contemplating a trade to move back in the draft.

Most teams in the top-10 apparently want to move back, but you have to find a trade partner. Titans GM Jon Robinson might have one, and he sits in a good spot just ahead of the Jets at No. 6. Teams may be looking to jump ahead of New York possibly for a quarterback, and No. 5 could be a landing spot for the Browns looking to come up from 12th overall. Tennessee doesn't currently own a second-round pick, and word is they want one or more of them for Friday.

Dalvin Cook - RB - Seminoles

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bucs are talking with at least three teams to drop back from pick No. 19 and possibly out of the first round entirely.

The Bucs have been linked to Dalvin Cook frequently, so this news is interesting. Could Cook be selected before the pick? Do the Bucs think they are one of the few teams targeting him int heir portion of the draft? We've suggested Jabrill Peppers as a possible fit as well. The Chiefs might be a team interested in moving up for a quarterback.

I have a strong feeling that we will have a trading partner after all. No way we keep the #2 overall pick. My gut feeling tells me that we have an offer on the table from Cleveland, but the only reason why we haven't accepted is because they're unwilling to include their 2018 first round pick as well.

I think Howie Roseman would love to add Fournette to his squad for two reasons: 1.) To show the Cowboys that they too can have an elite back and give them fits. 2.) To better develop and build Wentz's confidence. Therefore, I'd watch out for Philadelphia here as a trade partner. Roseman has never been shy about making big trades.

We shall see...!

unless the team has multiple first this year, no way our #2 overall selection should be moved without next years 1st... just can't happen..... it can't.

I would like Fournette, haven't been as vocal about him cause i see other areas of need. Should we draft Fournette, Hyde needs to be traded and we should get a good pick back.

What could Philly give us?

Given that they pick first, that's 4/7 teams. Hope we're one of them.

I read an exceedingly odd article yesterday, about how the Niners were taking a big risk with the way Lynch is talking about dealing the pick. It made a comparison to the Browns and Titans securing trades weeks before the draft last year, as if it was critical of Lynch for not doing so. I can't ever recall seeing something like that happened last year prior to the draft. It's awfully rare for a team to move to second overall before the draft as there is always some degree of speculation over who would go first. Even this year we're seeing that.

Wow. What a disaster this could have been for us had he been hired to be our GM. We dodged a bullet here folks.

If Garrett is on the board and the Niners pass on him.. I will go ballistic... You would have to be epicly stupid to pass on him. .. if he's off the board I am hoping the Niners trade back.

I like the fact that we're going as far as to involve our owner to play a part of our poker game (ploy to try to convince Cleveland that they better reconsider):

Mitchell Trubisky - QB - Tar Heels

NFL Network's Steve Wyche was told by a team source that the 49ers are interested in North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

In addition to that, 49ers CEO Jed York talked about the importance of finding a star quarterback on Wednesday. "You need to get the best players, wherever they are, whatever you need to do, you need to find the best players," York told Wyche. "It's proven that if you don't have a superstar quarterback, you're probably not getting to the Super Bowl and you're probably not winning a Super Bowl." Whether San Francisco's interest in Trubisky is legitimate or a ploy to convince a team like Cleveland to pony up for a trade, we cannot say. We'll find out tomorrow night.

Gareon Conley - DB - Buckeyes

Profootballtalk cites a league source that says the "current buzz" is Ohio State CB Gareon Conley will get picked before the end of Round 3.

A possible top-10 pick only days ago, Conley's stock has been in a freefall since he was accused of rape by a Cleveland woman earlier this week. This is a fluid situation similar to the La’el Collins affair from a couple years back. Collins, a sure-fire first-rounder, ended up going undrafted. Conley could end up being exonerated. He could also end up being charged and potentially convicted of a first-degree felony. The NFL is working hard to gather information in advance of the beginning of the NFL Draft on Thursday night.

Yeah that would be a terrible selection, especially with what we have invested at Safety already. A strong safety at 2???

I don't remember the last time the #1 pick wasn't known this late in the game.

Now everyone is biting my mock draft I created the day before yesterday:

Mitchell Trubisky - QB - Player

UNC QB Mitchell Trubisky is the No. 1 overall pick in Bob McGinn's final mock draft.

McGinn is longtime NFL reporter for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel who annually produces one of the most accurate mock drafts, as recorded by The Huddle Report. McGinn and Mike Mayock both have top-six mock scores over the past half decade among over 100 entrants. Both McGinn and Mayock have Trubisky landing with the Browns, although McGinn has Trubisky going No. 1 overall, and Myles Garrett going No. 2 to the 49ers. Mayock has the Browns taking Garrett at No. 1 and trading up for Trubisky at No. 5. Mock drafts are a lot of fun, yet incredibly unreliable. We'll find out what happens in real life tonight.
