UTAH/IND - A New Western Powerhouse
PG13
for
Favors, Lyles, Hood, Exum, #24, '18 OKC #1*, '19 UTA #1 (top 3 prot), Multiple 2nd rounders
*lotto protected 2018-20, then 2 2nds
(Done with some behind the scenes assurances from Hill and Hayward that they would resign if they land PG13)
JAZZ
Hill / Neto
Burks / (Ingles)
Hayward / Johnson
George / Bolomby
Gobert
+
MLE
GS #1
#42
#55
George reunites with his old buddy George Hill, but with a much stronger supporting cast. They adopt a small ball line-up of 6'8"ish wings with Ingles (if he is affordable), Hawyward, PG13, JJ and of course have Gobert in the middle. Of course there is a chance PG13 still leaves, but if this trade convinces Hayward and Hill to stay it might be worth for that alone, not to mention the one year of true contention.
PACERS
Exum / Stephenson / J.Young
GRIII/ Ellis
Hood / Miles / Niang
Turner / T. Young / Lyles
Favors / Jefferson
+
#18
#24
#47
Clearly this signals a rebuild in Indy and they would do follow up moves to see what they could get for Thad Young, Ellis and Al Jefferson, but this kicks off the movement. They get young players at pretty much every position and multiple draft picks. Pacers hope Favors bounces back forms a formidable tandem with Turner up front while Hood takes over the lead spot from the wing.
*Tweaked as Allen has a TO which Indy can decline and Seraphin is Non Guaranteed so he is taken out to save Indy a roster spot.

That's a fair offer. Pacers could do much worse than this. I still see Boston with Brown and the Brooklyn picks having the best amo in a PG trade. Of course they would have to be willing to use it and Paul would have to be willing to go there. If Paul was down with playing in SLC the resulting Utah team could be a pretty interesting powerhouse.

Yeah there is no singular stand out piece here, nor is there major savings, but it's a rather large platter. I almost did not include the 2019 Utah #1, but added it last minute.

Can't believe I didn't realize that Favors was still only 25. Thought he was a few years older for some reason. If Boston/Lakers don't end up offering their first and a young player, this would be a great option IMO.

I love this and I would be willing to include an additional first for Thad.
Ingles is cooked.

Making salary work is tough with extra additions to Utah's roster. They might have a hard time keeping Ingles even.

I think Diaw has an option so he can go, Jazz could probably work the numbers.

Yeah, I left Diaw out of the equation.
I still see about $120m for just those 9 players I listed, if Ingles takes around $12m, Hill around $20m.

I love the idea of PG, but didn't I hear from Indy fans that George refuses to play the 4? It could still work, but probably best to move Burks for some kind of PF and then move Hayward and George down one slot. Throw him in for Thad?

Or I figured there was plenty of versatility with GH/PG/JJ/JI all 6'8" ish.. call whoever the PF.
And yeah maybe move Burks, but again the payroll was a concern.

I don't know so much that he refuses to play the 4 he was just being beaten up playing against guys considerably bigger than him.

Yeah, I know it can work, but the question becomes how deep into the tax is Utah willing to go?
That is a very expensive line-up and I might be optimistic thinking Hill takes $20m and Ingles $12m.

We have been willing to go into the tax before and if its for a chance to add a big name like PG to Rudy and Gordon, GoRu, and I think Hill will take a discount to win a ring and same with Ingles.
Hill/Neto
Hayward/Ingles
PG/Ingles/JJ
Thad/JJ
Gobert/Bolomboy
Ingles is cooked.

For Indy this feels like taking your sister to prom after everyone says no type of trade. You get to rent the tux and attend the dance...but nothing can come of it.
Favors is his own flight risk. Other pieces are meh and long shots to develop.

Re: UTAH/IND - A New Western Powerhouse
Too rich for my taste.
Take out Dante, the 24th pick and some of the 2nd rounders and I'd start considering it.
The trade would gut the Jazz or all future assets and there's no guarantee that PG13 would stay in Utah longterm.
I'm also not as high on PG13 as others. Gordon is already better than him and PG13 has shown he's got a bad attitude over the last couple seasons. I don't think chemistry would be good if PG13 had to submit to the team being Gordon's (which it is) and not his.
If the Jazz made that type of grandfather offer, it better be for Damian Lillard.

Re: UTAH/IND - A New Western Powerhouse
Pet peeve of mine is when people propose trading for superstars but put protections on a pick. The only time that's ever happened is with Cousins and only after his agent torpedoed better offers by telling those teams Cousins wouldn't re-sign with them. Even in that sell-low trade the Kings took almost no salary back and received a lottery pick on his rookie contract and another lottery pick.

Again the logic was Hayward and Hill say if you trade for PG we both resign regardless.
As for being able to walk, PG13 couldn't go to a better team and meanwhile Favors is a flight risk for Utah or Indy as well.

Even if it all works out for Utah, it's still way too rich for Utah. The Jazz would literally be gutting themselves for the next several years. They'd have no cap room whatsoever, likely be waaaaay into the luxury tax and would have no draft picks to use in either trades or just to take young cheap players that con contribute.

Definitely solid on paper but I've also seen reports he refuses to play the 4 and I'm pretty sure he labels him a guard on Instagram, for whatever that's worth
