Time to Hit the Reset Button (while exploiting Vivek/Vlade)

Post#1 » by sfballa13 » Thu Apr 27, 2017 1:24 am

To Kings: Reggie Jackson, Drummond, Leuer

Why? The Kings' owner Vivek is a moron and wants to win NOW at all costs as we have seen in the past 3 seasons. Gay and Tyreke most likely will NOT re-sign with the Kings giving them an extra 23M to absorb all of Drummond's deal. This trade gives Vivek three quality starters signed to long term deals. No FA of Reggie/Drummond caliber would ever sign in Sacramento, so taking on Leuer's extra few years in exchange for Tolliver's expiring is not a big deal

Not a bad lineup - much better overall then what the Kings will put out on the floor next season

Reggie / ----
Buddy Hield / Afflalo
---- / ----
Leuer / -----
Drummond / Koufos

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Pistons: Skal Labissiere, WCS, Papagiannis, Tolliver, Temple

Why? Clear the huge contracts of Reggie, Drummond, and Leuer without having to take any bad contracts in return. Instead we save money AND get three nice prospects instead of unknown players via the draft. We will also have our pick this season which we could combine with Tobias/Stanley to move up and grab our PG of the future. Or we keep the team as is and run with this lineup next season.

Ish / ---
KCP / Temple
Tobias / Stanley
Mook / Skal - Tolliver
WCS / Papagiannis - Boban

the only player i want from the kings is buddy hield, and it sounds like they won't give him up for anything.

You should want Skal and WCS. One could be a great complement to Drummond, the other could be a Tyson Chandler type off the bench.

I'd take both before Hield too

WCS
Skal
Top 10 pick
Hield
Top 10 pick

Kings might finally be on to something

BTW, Gay is not a FA right now. He's got an option but doubt he gives up the money given he's done his Achilles

Guess Kings suck so bad their young guys flew under the radar

Look at the ages of players on our roster post trade:

KCP (24) - Tobias (24) - WCS (23) - Skal (21) - Stanley (20) - Ellenson (20) - Papagiannis (19) + 2017 1st

That's a young team with room to grow surrounded by cheap but productive older players: Ish, Mook, Tolliver, Boban, Temple

This year we played much better with Ish running the point, Reggie was a huge net negative for us. Drummond put up 14 pts and 14 rebounds this season, pretty sure WCS + Papagiannis + Skal will combine for more points/rebounds/blocks per game.

So in this trade we:
- lose Reggie who didnt help us this year and arguably made our team worse
- replace Drummond (who didnt give a flying farx all season) with equally productive but younger players, who hustle and are on dirt cheap deals
- retain all the positive assets on our roster (Ish, Tobias, Mook, KCP, Boban, Stanley)
- keep our 1st in 2017, allowing us to add yet another young player to our roster
- can save tons of money enabling us to go out and sign two veterans to large two year deals so they expire alongside the contracts of Tobias, Mook, Ish, and Boban

Tanking? I think our team will be MUCH better than this year's squad. New arena, new younger and hungrier players, no more dead weight of Reggie/Drummond dragging us down...all add up to a playoff appearance.

Look at the Bucks, young team, excited to be in the playoffs, even if they lose they actually grow and learn from it not regress like Reggie/Drummond did. We got swept and Drummond went to chill in LA instead of working on his game at the Olympics with the best players and coaches in the world.

We need a culture change, doesnt have to be this trade, but it needs to happen. Honestly i also think it's time for SVG to step down as head coach and hire a younger guy who can relate to the players better and run a more modern offense. Esp after a deal like this it's the perfect excuse for SVG to step down and give his full attention to rebuilding and re-evaluating the roster.

I challenge anyone on here to come up with a better scenario to get rid of both Reggie and Drummond. The majority of people on here want us to take on a bad contract just to move Drummond and get a top 5 pick. Someone like Tyson Chandler or another trash vet on our team is not worth a top 5 pick sorry.

With my trade 90% the highest paid player on our roster will be Tobias and the next highest salary will be Ish/Boban at 6-7M. The remaining players are all on cheap rookie deals.

I need to call SVG asap

Gay will opt out. He is done with Sacramento and he will easily be able to get 8-10M for 3 seasons anywhere he pleases. The pickings are slim go check the FA market for SF this offseason. Im sure he'd rather take a guaranteed 24-30M over 14M. What if he has a serious injury next season while playing on the Kings? Donzo.

1 - you're assuming Gay opts out for longer money.

2 - you're assuming that the Kings are not taking the long view now they've traded Cousins

What evidence do you have to support their "win now" attitude? From all reports they wanted 2 picks and a young asset for Cousins and then took 1 pick & a young asset

That suggests a longer rebuild - not "win now"

As for Tyson Chandler - dude would be a quality mentor to any big man we had

Agreed, there is a growing sense Gay opts IN due to his achilles injury.

The only way that trade is made is if Joe Dumars was running the team. Seems like Vlade would be exploiting us, not the other way around.

The whole "The Kings are your automatic reset button!" crap has to stop.

SVG couldn't even give them Josh Smith.

Trading Drummond right now would be moving him at his absolutely lowest value.

Additionally, SVG probably doesn't have the balls to trade him in any deal that doesn't immediately improve the roster.

I'm pretty sure the Kings Fo said something about not wanting big contracts.

I can't see Divac trade for a skills-less center.

It will. I don't think we're going to be active players. They'll match any offer KCP gets, then burn up their mid-level exception on a veteran who probably can't do much on the court anymore. That's about it, besides using the #12 pick on a low upside guy.

Like Dumars, SVG is going to be fired/step down - leaving the next GM with 3 huge contracts: Reggie, KCP, and Drummond

We better be active players bc last season we were #3 in payroll in the entire league and missed the playoffs

Such negativity.
We will bounce back next year. We weren't far off the #4 seed basically without our starting PG the whole year.
I'd put money on us being top 5 in East next year.

What kind of clown statement is this!?! "We weren't far off the #4 seed"!?! Buddy, we didn't even get the #8 seed. We were never in range for the 4 past the first couple weeks of the season.

And guess what? We're probably bringing effectively the same group back next year for another 34-40 wins. We have no clue if Reggie's knee will ever be what it was two years ago.

That's not saying much. It's more about putting together an actual that that's actually good at basketball. Not so much about where the Pistons could get seeded in the East.

At some point in early March we were 5 games out of HCA for the first round.

I posted as much at the time because the board was overrun with negativity

What happened from there is the biggest issue facing the team:

With the playoffs less than 6 weeks away we folded like a house of cards!

That's not on one guy - it's on all of them!
