International free Agents
As the Nets continue their euro tour with marks/langdon/kenny scouting overseas... it surprises me to see so much opposition when it comes to singing Milos Teodosic or Edwin Jackson. (on ND Milos is almost unaninously hated on).
These guys would provide in their prime veterans who can pass/shoot from 3/score and have high IQs. they would likely cost alot less then roll guys like Bazemore or Crabbe and MUCH less then KCP or Porter.
Also... and what I see as probably the #1 reason to bring these guys in is to make Booklyn a known destination for international free agents. To hook into that network and make brooklyn a top spot on the list for all these international guys... be a team that young international kids follow, become fans of, and eventually want to play for,
If Milos or Edwin dont pan out on court, they cans till ahve an impact. letting international guys know how we take care of them. always having them on the roster creates and infrustructure for an easy transition for guys who would come here in the future.
And I think anyone who thinks either of these guys wouldnt have an impact... i dont know... high IQ shooters/passers who are that competitive and know how to play in a ball movement system?
Jackson
Teodosic
give me those 2 guys + 2 first round rookies and im a happy dude this offseason

Every minute vets Milos 30yo & Edwin 28yo get is a min. of development young players do NOT get. Who cares about "impact" when losses should be treasured, a 10-72 season means we DEVELOPED.
But seriously folks, I support anything that generates more Wins if we don't cripple our future selves financially. Literally dozens of reasons why Nets should want Wins that it's even absurd to have to justify and list them (Sports Mgt 101).
The optics of advocating for these Euro vets while simultaneously pining for another 20 win season??? (which means those vets did ZERO for us) ... that's something that doesn't compute.

Re: International free Agents
I agree with this, especially since none of these guys will command money that will screw us later on.
Go international, draft rookies, maybe grab ONE veteran for mid level cash if that. Otherwise, roll that cap space like dice and lets keep going. We need to keep the ship steady and don't try for any quick fixes. Build a talent pool, get better each season, but without committing insane salary to someone below A tier level.

No one is pining for a 20 win season. You confuse not wanting to handicap the Nets cap wise by going for a quick fix/focusing on player development with wanting to lose games. Neither of those things are exclusive to each other.
Listen man, just because the Nets aren't going to trip over themselves to cap themselves out so you can feel better about Jeremy Lin "leading" a team to a 41 win season and playoffs to continue some half cocked narrative about the poor guy being this great catalyst for playoff teams doesn't mean that they are pining for losses. There is a strategy in play here and they aren't going to waiver from it just barely qualify for an 8th seed while being capped out.

You guys just need to focus on the right internations. I get the Milos interest but he's stated the teams and situations he's interested in.
Why Edwin? Of all the internationals why him?

I personally am not interested in either guy, but I trust the front office's judgement.

In absolute concurrence Nets shouldn't cripple ourselves cap-wise to any players, least of all untested Euros.
With Lin/Greivis out, waived/traded Bojan, Scola, Bennett almost assured that the vaunted "improvement" in our youngsters would have been lessened.
Interesting those same voices are keen to add back heavy mins-demanding-vets, at this stage.
Appears you attribute me to having made comments I've never made e.g. "playoff catalyst?, irrationally drag Lin for poor shooting?" - never said any of that.

Re: International free Agents
The growth of the youth currently on the team and who will be added also involves having veterans here, you can't march out a team in the NBA full of 21-23 year old kids and think that something good will happen, you need adults in the room. This is why Lin, Lopez, Bojan, Foye, and Scola were important to have here regardless of the outcome. We need to continue that, but with guys who can do a bit more on the floor. Just depends on what the cost is.

Quite the opposite. You want veterans around young guys. ESPECIALLY high IQ players who move the ball and are seasoned with how to prepare and how to play team basketball. Look at the value foye and scola provided. Milos essentially takes Foyes spot on the roster. Jackson would take kilpatricks. Still tons of minutes for young guys

no one is pining for a 20 win season. wins simply dont matter at this stage. would we like to win while developing? of course. but thats not the measure and not the focus. i we win 20 or 30 or 40 its all secondary to development. id rather great development and 15 wins then playing for wins and winning 45 games. and its not even remotely close. especially since our 2 best players wont be here long term

Exactly.
Cap wise, it makes sense to look for better talent-per-dollar contracts abroad than here. But I put Sean Kilpatrick above Jackson right now as far as ability to compete at the NBA level. I don't know how much each player will command on the market but if they're relatively close and the Nets are choosing between either of the two, I'd definitely keep Skil.

we have an option on skil. he would cost the minimum. i dont think he and jackson are the same guy. skil has a low IQ and is bottom 10 defensively in the entire NBA(bogs level) going by the analytics. I dont know that jackson is a stopper but it would be hard to imagine him having a lower IQ or worse defense

I'd rather bet on Skil. He's a hard worker, so it's not inconceivable for him to take another step forward in the off-season and improve his D. Jackson has never been on an NBA court like that and we honestly have no clue how he will fair. We know what Skil can do when he's healthy. Plus, I think he's too much of a positive locker room guy. His defense won't be as problematic with the influx of athleticism from our picks plus a full season of D-Widdie, LeVert, KJ.

IMO, Jackson looks exactly like how Skil used to look. None of his offensive moves would work in the NBA; they're not sharp nor quick enough.
If Skil has an option for the minimum, I easily take that over offering Jackson a contract that's $5mil/season.

Kane has great physical tools.
His free throw shooting and 3 point shooting are not good.
