Re: 2017 NFL DRAFT Thread
The more time goes, the more I find this upsetting.... Why not trade up for Webb or Pederman if you were looking to develop....
I'm lost on this lol...

I'd trade the Niners' draft for the Ravens' draft straight up.
Hmmm I might but other than Beathard Lynch has straight up rocked this Draft. And extr second and third for next year. Two perennial pro bowlers in Tomas and Foster and a Nice Corner in round three... He has rocked this draft according to virtually every anylyst out there. I understand your frustration because He didn't draft Trubisky... but Honestly I am happy he didn't blow the second overall on a 1 year starter who looks like something between Mark Sanchez and Ryan Tannehill. There is not a QB in this draft I would have taken in the first round. At best they look like they have the ceiling of average starter but most look like quality backups. Sam Darnold next year.
The Niners would've been netter off taking Charles Harris than Solomon Thomas. Both great players; NIners could've gotten a better player, pound for pound, with either of the safeties, Corey Davis or even Deshaun Watson.![]()
And Cam Robinson will be a better pro' than Reuben Foster.
They also drafted a CB who'll probably be like 6th on the depth chart when a potential, starting center was on the board in Pat Elflein.Jordan Willis or Tim Williams would've had MUCH Better chances of contributing on that defense.
And they just drafted one of the most worthless QBs I've seen the Niners take since Nate Davis.![]()
Amateur.
Charles Harris... hard for me to say better Derek Barnett I would have taken over Solomon Thomas. Adams I could have gotten behind. Watson is the Qb I would have gone with if you put a gun to my head and said I had to pick a QB in the first round. But Foster Hell yes he will be the second coming of Patrick Willis and at 31 he is a steal. In the third I think I would have prefered Rasgul Douglas to Witherspoon or Even Moreau. But I totally agree with defense heavy this year. Cam Robinson being a better pro than Reuben Foster... I don't know I think they both will be to multiple pro bowls. The fact that Im a defense guy and used to play ILB through College yes I get biased when I see bad ass hard hitting defenders. And honestly If they had picked Robinson instead of Foster I would still be happy with his drafting.

Re: 2017 NFL DRAFT Thread
Not a fan of Cj Beathard, i watched him in the big ten and he did not impress me at all but lynch has earned a tiny bit of leeway with how he has handled himself in this draft so i am going to wait and see how cj turns out. The worst that can happen is that he doesn't develop we suck and we draft sam darnold or he develops and we have a valuable trade piece in the future because we sucked and drafted sam darnold

As for most Worthless since Nate Davis... I'd bring back Nate Davis or even Cody Pickett over Beathard I agree with you the Beathard pick makes as much sense as it would be to sign Tebow to be the starting QB next year.

A 4th is really high to waste for a clipboard guy.... Punters n kickers have more of an argument than CJ....
Kyle mentioned he thought CJ was going in the 4th.

John and Kyle get at least two more drafts before they can be judged harshly.

Didn't the Niners have the second pick in the 4th... meaning.. that as Long as Pack didn't draft him the Niners would have had him?

Re: 2017 NFL DRAFT Thread
I had us drafting Beathard in the 5th. He is perfect for the west coast offense. I liked the pick, but wish we did not trade up for him. Getting him in the 4th would have been just fine. He compares to Matt Barkley who is also very good for this system. I see him as the back up of the future. Next year is where we get our franchise QB. It will be a real good QB draft and now we have ammo to trade up if needed with 2 s2nds and 2 3rds. There are 3 or 4 franchise type QBs depending on who declares. Personally I like Rosen, Allen, Rudolph, Darnold and Falk. Anyone of them will be the QB of our future. It reminds me of the draft class of 1984.

Re: 2017 NFL DRAFT Thread
ESPN said this about him:
It will be hard to find a QB in this class with a better combination of competitiveness, toughness and football IQ than Beathard. He's an unselfish natural leader, and he's a tireless worker. As a passer, Beathard is fearless in the pocket and he has a high efficiency grade on pressure drops. However, Beathard simply has physical limitations that are tough to overcome in the NFL. He lacks ideal size, many of his outside-the-numbers throws lose energy, he's not very mobile and he holds onto the ball too long. Projects as a good NFL backup and carries an early-Day 3 grade. -April 9, 2017

Re: 2017 NFL DRAFT Thread
CB
Ahkello Witherspoon
6'3"198 lbs Colorado
14 POS RK
85 OVR RK
74 GRADE
What He Brings
Witherspoon possesses a rare blend of height, length and top-end speed. He tested well, especially for a taller corner, in the agility drills. While he only intercepted three passes in three seasons at Colorado, he broke up 22 passes during the 2016 season. -- Steve Muench
How He Fits
New general manager John Lynch continues to address a defense that allowed 480 points (tied for ninth most in NFL history) and 6,502 total yards (eighth most) last season. He also fills the 49ers' most pressing need outside of quarterback by taking Witherspoon, who projects as a Day 1 starter in new defensive coordinator Robert Saleh's scheme. -- Steve Muench

QB
C.J. Beathard
6'3"219 lbs Iowa
9 POS RK
156 OVR RK
59 GRADE
What He Brings
Beathard lacks an elite physical skill, but he is an unselfish leader and tireless worker -- all of which may allow him to overcome his physical deficiencies. He possesses a strong combination of competitiveness, toughness and football IQ to potentially develop into a serviceable backup. --- Kevin Weidl
How He Fits
New general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't target a quarterback ready to make an early contribution in the first two rounds, but they get a developmental prospect in Beathard here. -- Steve Muench

No its because Ozzie almost always seems to find the right pieces for his team. Every year the Ravens seem to be teaching a PHD level how to draft class.
...Why is their team so bad then?
Ozzie's teams have been competing for almost two decades. With different HCs, different QBs, he's been the one constant and one common denominator.
He's the best GM in the league. He understand his team's needs, knows where to find value in the draft and the success rate on his picks is top notch.
What's the argument against Ozzie? That the Ravens have been mediocre for a couple of years?

Re: 2017 NFL DRAFT Thread
I'm not sure why they thought he would be gone in the 4th when they picked, but considering how well the 1st round went for Lynch and the gang, I'll let this one pass for now.

I get that everyone wants to think their team won the Super Bowl on draft day, and 99% of fans think they did every friggn' year. But my first & second-round picks have been better than the 49ers' picks since I've been following the draft (when I disagreed with the picks), so I'm not falling for the "they do this for a living" line. Lots of people got jobs in the NFL who sucked out loud; Lynch looks like one of them.
So sorry to rain on the optimism parade, but he f***ed up.
...And by the way, where are all the Kaepernick supporters who thought Baalke was doing a great job? Baalke the professional GM. How'd that work out for the Niners? They're now a powerhouse, and Kaepernick is a future HOFer, right?
