Mildly OT - cutting the cord and pistons games
We're looking at cancelling cable and getting 1gig fiber service and netflix/sling/etc. My only reservation is pistons games. I'm out of state so I have to have league pass. Anyone streaming it to a decent size tv? Any issues? Also, I record the start of most games and generally don't get to start watching until 9pm or so. Any good alternatives for that with streaming?

If you happen to have a PS4, I can't recommend Playstation Vue enough. I absolutely love the quality and it comes with every channel I could possibly want with very little extra baggage. $35 a month and I get Fox Sports Detroit, ESPN 1,2, and Classic, NBA TV, Big Ten Network and TNT. I think it also comes with the NFL Network/Golf/MLB/ included if you're into those sports as well.
Fox Sports, as far as I know, isn't carried on Sling or Roku.

Only way I know to get a great stream is by using the fox sports app. But you need a cable provider in Michigan to put in the password. So I always just used my wife's friends password and streamed perfect quality games. So basically if you have any friends or family in Michigan with cable just ask for their password.

You can also download Kodi on a fire stick or whatever and stream about any game you want. Just the quality is pretty hit or miss and just a pain in the ass if you get screwed trying to watch a game.

Re: Mildly OT - cutting the cord and pistons games
I'm a cord cutter and have paid for League Pass the past few years (just the Pistons games, compared to whole league which is more expensive). There were a few issues early last season with their new app, but once that was sorted out it worked fine. Sometimes I'll use my PS4 other times I'll stream from my phone/computer to my chromecast. Quality is very good, maybe slightly worse than cable with hd, but still solid. I have 100mb internet.
Only downsides are nationally televised games are usually blacked out (or sometimes you can get weird angles from the TNT feed but not the main cameras), local market games are blacked out (I live in NY, so anytime we play the Nets or Knicks), and it doesn't include playoffs if/when we make it (unless you're outside the US).
Not sure about starting the game late, but the replay is available by the next day I think.

This.
I have Lightspeed Internet. Bought a nice router and a Roku 4. I run PS Vue, and couldn't be happier with the service. Streams to my 65" Samsung SUHD like a dream. Very rarely do I have issues with lag. And at the price, ($50 internet + $35 PS Vue) you can't beat it. Luckily, I get FSD in my area, so Pistons/Wings games are always available.

Yeah as recommended here, have a dedicated streaming stick/thing and with your fiber internet, it should be more than enough to stream it in HD. I dunno about recording games since I never bought league pass, but in terms of hardware, you got multitudes to stream it from as a medium. I'd recommend a Chromecast.

Fox Sports is on Sling, that's what I rocked through hockey/basketball season. Then I cancelled after the seasons ended and I'll re-up in the fall. There is a significant delay in the stream (getting phone updates is a real suspense killer), and you occasionally deal with some buffering (at least I did, with a 90mb down connection). There's like 3 Sling packages and I want to say the Blue package has Fox Sports, but idk how it works if you're out of market, not sure if you can select which fox sports market you get.
Pricing was comparable to PS Vue, maybe even a tad cheaper. I think you can run PS Vue from other devices though right? If the delay is less I'd consider switching.

Works like a charm I stream from my phone to TV using Chromecast. Beautiful picture quality and rarely any issues.

Good job, let's promote supporting illegal streams.

Re: Mildly OT - cutting the cord and pistons games
It seems there are plenty of streaming options for most tv and I already pay of the more expensive leaguepass option for pistons, so that isn't a big deal. Anyone have any decent solutions to the DVR issue? That's my only other concern. The ones with cable-like functionality are really expensive.
