Trent Taylor - WR - Bulldogs
49ers selected Louisiana Tech WR Trent Taylor with the No. 177 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Taylor (5’8/181) complemented Carlos Henderson at slot receiver in Louisiana Tech's passing game, leading the nation in receiving yards as a senior with a 136/1,803/12 (13.3 YPR) stat line and finishing his career with an absurd 327 receptions. Quicker than fast, Taylor’s agility showed up at the Combine in his three-cone (6.74) and short-shuttle (4.01) times. Taylor is a diminutive, slot-only prospect with tiny arms (28 ¼") and 4.63 speed, but he is sure handed with run-after-catch creativity and has a chance to become a Cole Beasley- or Danny Amendola-type player in the pros.

He does sort of remind me of Kirk just a little:

Man, I hope this is one of my all-time personality misses. If I went back 6 months I honestly would've been astounded if you'd tell me Lynch would take such a liking to Foster the kid/man that he is and is projected to become.

To piggyback on Pozz's observation, what I like most about is that he's very transparent on what he does and he is very unselfish and is willing to compromise if he sees the logic behind your reasoning. For instance, like the 99% of us who felt like C.J. Breathard was not a fit for us (could've been had a later pick if we had exercised more patience), we found out later on that that was a Shanahan's wish. He only obliged to foster a continued positive work relationship with Shanahan by drafting the only player that he wanted. The other day Jikkle shared an article with us, written by Peter King that outlined the events of that day. Which revealed some of the players that he liked (even the ones we didn't draft) and wouldn't have minded trading up for (i.e. Watt, and Lattimore). Reading that article gave me some fresh air in discovering that he is very alligned with our way of thinking: a lot of players many of us in this board tend to like as well. Unlike the previous regime it appears as though this regime (Lynch in particular) will ONLY target players that makes sense. The players that we have intensely followed throughout the course of the college season. At first I was worried because he failed me in not bringing in one of my favorite FAs to have hit the open market in recent memory in Dontari Poe. Now I am extremely happy to have him as our GM. The next major task for him is convincing FAs to sign with us (Sammy Watkins) and most importantly convincing Shanahan that we shouldn't give Andrew Luck type money to Kirk Cousins, but instead invest our future on a younger player in the 2018 NFL draft that will be loaded with talented passers.

Re: 2017 NFL Draft - 49ers selected.
Re-watching some 2017 college games as well as some '17 combine stuff which I'm hoping will help me see some things better now that I know where these guys have gone and are in what systems. Decided to add that to my list of fun things to do in my spare time as that was one piece of the draft puzzle I didn't devote enough time to. Feel like I can add to my player profiles I come up with now that I know where these guys are at. Really enjoying it and how it'll add to each player's puzzle with their transition into the NFL and what it might provide in the future when a lot of these guys are up for FA.
OT: Deion Sanders has GOT to go next year for the Combine. He used to provide a LITTLE bit of value and had some perspective on some of these kids coming in but he's spread himself so thin anymore that he's almost entirely on for comedic/entertainment purposes now. It drives me crazy. You can even tell his knowledge on the Florida, specifically Florida State, kids has declined now, too.
There's some, albeit small at times, value to some of these DB drills they have them do and he (Deion) just sits out there and talks about how useless part of it is, failing to see what many of the scouts want to see. And the consistent telling of kids to get their stuff and go home and skip this drill or that interview is maddening. Again, a large part of it is for chuckles but it drives me crazy when somebody like a Charles Davis or a Daniel Jeremiah could be filling that air time. Heck, if you want to go the former player route bring in one of the many DBs who actually has a long history of working out with draft hopefuls and let them talk about what they're seeing out there. It's gotten worse and worse each year with him that there's just so much garbage filler (i.e. Mayock asking him about this guy or that guy and Deion responding only with, "Yeah, I like him.") that it really takes away from what the Combine experience could be for those that don't watch a lot of this stuff and want to become more interested in what they're seeing.
