All 2000s Players: Draft Thread

Post#1 » by damecurry » Sat Apr 29, 2017 2:33 pm

Welcome to the All 2000s Players Draft!!

Draft Rules:

1. Every player that played at least 1 regular season or playoff NBA game during the seasons of 1999-2000 to 2008-09 is available. Any season of that players career may be selected (like the all 2015-16 draft.) So if you draft Michael Jordan, for instance, you do not have to take his Wizards days, you can take any season. Magic Johnson on the other hand isn't available because even his "comback" year on 95-96. Bottom line, if they played in the 00s at all than any season is available, and that includes 2016-17, if not they're entirely unavailable.

2. The winner of the draft will be determined by way of a 16-team playoff tournament (see playoff rules).

3. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. There will be no trading. However, you can swap your draft pick position with somebody else before the draft begins if you wish to do so.

4. You must state the specific season of the player you choose to draft. You don't have to do it right away when you make your selection but you must state it on your team roster page before the playoff tournament begins.

5. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 90.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.

6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA

7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If a participant does not make a pick within 2 hours, he can make his pick whenever. A participant who has back to back or consecutive picks will have both full windows to make their picks. A participant who misses 2 consecutive picks may be replaced. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM/email your selection/list to myself (wallengms@gamil.com) or another participant...I strongly urge this so that the draft can move in a timely manner.

8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.

9. Draft order will be completely randomized via random.org and will be posted once the 16 slots are fill.

10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock, which will start their 2 hour period.

On the advice of counsel, I select

Hakeem Olajuwon

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I was between a couple guys here, and actually had the other guy ready to be picked, but I'm going to go with another elite center. I rarely get elite two way centers, so I want to try this change of pace.

I pick David Robinson

Idk man, its between the guy i love and have had a couple times and is objectively the wrong pick, and the guy i dont like but have never had and is probably the right pick... ill go with the latter, mostly just cause i like him more at C.

Tim Duncan.

Alright gonna go with KD. 2016-2017 season for only 16.5 FGA is really good and I can always use an earlier season aren't so keen on this years
