Chris Paul?
With the Clippers window closing, and us in need of a leader and PG, what kind of trade would make sense for both teams to make this happen?

Re: Chris Paul?
Eh, I like CP3, but he's getting too old and I don't think he would ever consider coming here. His own window is closing rapidly so if he wants a ring, he needs to jump to a contender that's ready.
I wish we can draft the next CP3 though.

Re: Chris Paul?
Paul Griffin and Jordan for Drummond Jackson and Morris seems like a fair trade

I wouldn't hesitant signing him but I doubt he would want to play here.

Re: Chris Paul?
i wouldnt mind if we got chris paul as a veteran/leader type player to help alleviate kcp, harris, and drummonds game and if we can draft a young point guard (dennis smith jr example) have chris paul groom him into a complete pg.

Re: Chris Paul?
It's curious also that he's never made it to conference finals.
I really don't know what more he really needs. DJ and Blake are pretty good "stars" to have to at least be conference finals contenders.

Yeah can't imagine he'd ever go to Detroit. He'll be ring casing til he hangs it up

Re: Chris Paul?
Paul definitely looked like he was a shell of his former star talent in the playoffs. He is still very good, but no longer great.

Re: Chris Paul?
Why would a guy that wants a ring come here? There were people here that thought we had a shot at getting Paul the last time he was a free agent. It was laughable then and it's even funnier now.

What? Did you even watch the Clips/Jazz series? He's literally the only reason why the Clippers went to game 7 after Blake went down. He only averaged career high in points in the playoffs on 49.6% shooting. He took over anytime he was in the game, it's just that the Clippers are way too top heavy and have 0 depth behind the big 3. Yeah Jamal and Rivers have the ability to score but really CP3 is the reason why the series was remotely competitive. The dude still has it and is still a top pg in the league. A winner? Probably not but in terms of pure point guard, I'm taking him over 90% of other starting pgs.
There is also 0% chance CP3 even THINKS about coming here.
I'd welcome him with open arms but this isn't even in the realm of possibility.
Have read CP3 isn't the most desirable teammate/leader, but I would take CP3 over Stuckey...

Re: Chris Paul?
I'm surprised at the reaction. First of all, CP3 is still playing great and isn't a shell of his former self. I'm not so sure we can even say he is a ring chaser - he has been staying put and trying to make the Clippers a championship team, although they have been seriously unlucky with Donald Sterling and a string of untimely injuries.
I do know that we could use a respected leader on this team as well as a team oriented PG. Clippers have to seriously think about blowing things up. I know CP3 is a free agent (I didn't when I made the initial post), but it would need to be a sign/trade since we don't have the cap space.
I do know CP3 >>> RJ. Can we lure him away? I guess it all depends on what else others are going to offer him.

Re: Chris Paul?
I would absolutely love to have Chris Paul, but I don't see any way he comes here though.
I think NOP will make a hard push for him and I think he'll consider returning "home". Pairing him up with AD and Boogie would be fun to see. Not sure how much cap space they have though.

Doc, having final say on roster decisions, has alluded to NOT wanting to blow it up referencing the Utah Jazz with Karl Malone and Stockton.
At the end of the day, how much can the Clippers really blame it on a poorly constructed team vs bad luck? Seems like Steve Ballmer wants all those guys back, not sure how the team will feel about Redick after a non existent series this year.
The Melo trade rumors seems to have resurfaced, with Rivers and Redick for Melo and potentially Courtney Lee being the framework of that deal.

I can definitely see the Clippers making one last push with this group, if not maybe Ballmer tries to reunite the Banana Boat Crew and get Wade and LeBron to join them! If I'm the Clips, I resign Blake and CP3 and work on trading them for 80 cents on the dollar if it doesn't work (and it most likely won't).
But to your point, I don't know if CP3 is a ring chaser, I think he does enjoy the spotlight, the commercials, and his wife and kids are probably super comfortable in LA.

Re: Chris Paul?
Imagine CP3 leaving LA and his national commercials for Detroit where he can be a spokesperson for 1800 call Sam, lol.
