I won't even claim to be a better gm than any of them. Even thou real gsm have selected Tebow, Leaf, Manzel, An Jenkins etc in the first round. But I do watch enough college football enough to have opinions on players. So far the one I was most right on was Earl Thomas instead of Anthony Davis. I wanted Aaron Rodgers over Alex Smith. But I can turn right around and say I was way off on Colt McCoy, Vince Young, Eddie Lacy, Vaccaro to name a few. But to say a NFL. Gm drafts Trubisky 2... doesn't mean he is a star... the NFL has a long line of highest pick qbs who bombed..

Do I love some players hell yeah and if they bomb I'll own up to being wrong. I like Lynchs draft far better than the majority of Baalkes... And with Baalke I didn't start hating him until after 3 craptastic drafts... this draft on paper gives me hope... maybe 3 years from now it will be ... it sucked time will tell.

Interesting that we got two of these guys. Beathard and Mullens.

Also gives us an idea on who to watch next season.

Really interesting read on the going ons during the draft for the 9ers.

Beathard was the only QB Shanahan wanted and Williams wasn't even on the draft board but Shanahan wanted him and Lynch actually gave Williams a call before taking the chance on him.

Probably won't convert anyone that hates the pick but Beathard's adjusted completion percentage was the highest among college QBs and was higher than Kizer's and Webbs.

So we gave KD Cannon and Jimmy Gilbert two of the highest deals amongst UDFA.

One of the more interesting things for historical purposes if you're a defensive guy is the interest in T.J. Watt.

Not sure what your problem is, but this board has proven time and time again that it knows what the heck its talking about.

And that John was, in fact, a Lattimore fan like some thought and would've "loved" to get him.

And that Foster was Shanahan's favorite player in the draft.

And that Johnny Holland (LB coach) called him the one of the best three or four linebackers in the last decade. Granted this is less newsworthy because I'm skeptical how much draft work he's actually done on a complete scale.

We signed Matt Breida. This dude had a monster junior season running for 1600 yards at almost 8 YPC with 17 TDs.

Don't really know what happened this year but he was considerably worse. Haven't heard about any injuries or anything but noticeably slower and less explosive.

And Shanahan liked Basham as well.

Real name: Deshawntee. Goes by his nickname since he was a kid. Tweener type. Lot of debate if he was going to stay at LB or move to safety. With a team like the Cardinals, he'll possibly be a move/in-the-box guy to start.

Undrafted ex-Nature Coast Tech RB Matt Breida gets free agent deal with 49ers

http://www.tampabay.com/sports/college/undrafted-ex-nature-coast-tech-rb-matt-breida-gets-free-agent-deal-with/2322231

Seventeen had expressed interest in him.

------------

The Jets had been calling four or five times a day. The Bears and Cowboys were interested, too.

-------------------

Two and a half hours in, San Francisco's running backs coach called. The 49ers hadn't seemed interested until Friday, when they grilled Breida about everything from his birth date to his injury history.

The Paonessas moved to the edge of the couch, and Frank whipped out his cellphone to catch the moment on video, just in case he was getting drafted.

He wasn't.

San Francisco just wanted more information about his production at Georgia Southern, how a back who ranked in the top five nationally in yards per carry in 2014 and 2015 rushed for only 646 yards and three touchdowns as a senior.

Breida didn't hide from the numbers or make up excuses. The 49ers appreciated that.

"Hopefully," they said, "we'll be calling you back in a little bit."

'I'm your man, Coach'

Eight minutes later, the Ravens texted him.

They had only one pick left, in the sixth round. If they didn't use it on
him, they wanted him as a free agent.[/i]

------------------

Midway through the sixth round, San Francisco called again. Over 13 minutes — the longest call of the day — the 49ers made their pitch.

They told Breida about the two-back system the coaching staff previously used in Atlanta with Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Even though they drafted Utah's Joe Williams in the fourth round, he's a bigger back. They needed a speedy one. They needed Breida. If another team offered a better signing bonus, they'd match it.

------------------------

He appreciated how six team officials called him Saturday. The 49ers offered a $30,000 signing bonus, the best chance to make the final roster (and earn the rookie minimum $465,000) and a familiar face. Breida grew up watching running back DuJuan Harris star at Central High. Now they'll be teammates, potentially fighting for the same roster spot.

I was reading the MMQB article and saw this photo (not sure it will post):

Had to read the caption, but that's John York third from the left. Man, that family has got to have some of the worst hair I've ever seen. And I've been steadily losing my hair since about 24. Jed with the plugs, and now his dad with the absurd style and color.

Mayhew likes his personal space. I respect that.

Jed consistently looks like the uncool kid.
