Re: Geometry: The Frank Kaminsky Thread
Frank seems like a full on Bro. Like one of those goofball frat boys you see jumping from a second story window onto a beer pong table or wearing that banana Halloween costume and roofying random chicks at a bar.
And I don't really care.
As Fats said, the team needs a lot more douchebag on it. It might be the softest/least intimidating team in the league

Sounds like a candidate for the D-league.
You got a point. But Marv was just as bad kinda. You better be careful attacking Frank on this board tho. Charts incoming.
Power forward was our weakest starting position and one of worst backup options for the 1st half of the season.
Frank picked it up post ASB. I wonder how bad his stat line would've been if it wasn't for the last 2 months of the season where he played significantly better.

Yes, good point. While we're simplifying things, let's please limit all words we use when discussing Frank to one syllable and ideally three letters.
I've said it before, will say it again - criticizing information because of the form it is presented is really stupid.

Lol. Why do you take this as a personal taunt? We all know only Frank gets the exclusive spreadsheets to show how good he's been despite shooting bad and looking badder on the floor by the eye test. The charts show that he's quite the anomaly.

Re: Geometry: The Frank Kaminsky Thread
The most surprising stat to me was how well zeller and frank did defensively. Would be nice if frank made Marv expendable.

You know why dude, it clearly is and let's drop the act.
MA goes deep on lots of guys, as do several other folks on here (myself included). We don't limit our interest or spend all our energy on one or two players, like perhaps some other folks on here from time to time.
And again, "charts" show information. You're awfully fond of advanced stats when they help make a case for Lamb, so it's a bit hypocritical of you to speak out of both sides of your mouth like this.

Lol. You're not making much sense. You seem offended. I don't know why. Lighten up. Get a sense of humor. You see how I laughed at the jabs you threw at me? It's not that serious. Joker face, poker face my guy.

I'm not offended, I just get tired of your shtick. Let's please not mock other posters as a general principle.

Gotta say there's a certain level of unintended humor starting around post #1850.
Cause naturally gossip, sweeping conclusions, and trolling leads to "yeah but facts."

Eh I get tired of your shtick and things you and other posters say about me on the sneak like the Lamb shots and the UConn stuff even though I'm not a UConn fan but I never get offended. I know how to dodge a jab.

I don't say anything about you that isn't directly addressed to you. You often troll for sport on here, right? I mean let's be real, that's your thing.
There are a few folks that are primarily concerned with discussing / defending Lamb, and they interpret the team's issues through that lens much like many of the Lin fans did. They should not be mocked, I agree, but it is a fact and addressing it as such is not out of bounds.
I never reference UConn fans generally and I never have called you one. I think labels are generally stupid and agree that we should discourage lumping groups of people together based on schools they pull for.

I do not troll for sport. I discuss several topics and players on this forum. Sometimes in a positive way, sometimes in a negative way, depending on how I feel about it. Just certain topics that I touch on rub some people the wrong way. I tend to try to add some sense of humor to it as well every here and there.
You essentially calling me a troll without calling me a troll right now is offensive. But don't fret.

Re: Geometry: The Frank Kaminsky Thread
Didn't you used to have a Dylan quote in your sig about trolling? Little surprised you are offended by that, thought you embraced it.
You aren't always a troll and I didn't say you were. Sometimes you make inflammatory / negative comments just to stir people up, and I consider that trolling. It's been addressed before.
If you want to continue this, let's do it via PM.

Agitating aside, what have I provided that's led you to believe this? Because it's certainly an ongoing narrative of yours across multiple threads yet I can't recall many productive conversations we've had, if ever, about challenging specific data. Normally it's either indifference or bordering on obstruction.

Re: Geometry: The Frank Kaminsky Thread
I have a question for ya'll, are you watching the games on TV or in person? I ask because it makes a big difference in how you are assessing a player. Frank comes off a LOT better in person on offense when you can see the whole court and realize how he moves without the ball and in relation to the defense. Likewise on defense, you can see how his positioning moves the other teams guys around. The dude just knows how to play basketball. He impacts the game off camera and that is why his stats show that he is better then he may appear just on film.
Yes, he does need to get bigger and become more consistent around the rim. I think he will get there as he hits his mid twenties and gets his man strength fully operational. But, Frank can just play ball the right way. I think he is our second best player and it will be a very good 3rd year for him coming up. Watch, he will get 20 million a year offers in a couple of years from multiple teams.

Makes a lot of sense, honestly.
In terms of perception, Frank suffers from a few things
- He came into a bad situation because of his draft position and the fact that his selection was so widely panned by the fans and many in the national media, compounded by Boston's so-called "God-Father" offer and the emergence of trendy players like Booker and Turner. At least the Winslow hype train slowed down last year. As Apples points out, there are a lot of guys drafted ahead of Frank that are having much worse starts to their careers.
- Big White Guy Syndrome. Unfortunately, it's real and something Frank will have to work hard to overcome the stereotypes about his game. Doesn't help his cause that he is a bit of a goofball, and is not afraid to speak his mind, stand out, be different and put a target on his back.
- His bad plays are often really bad and those plays have a tendency to stick out in people's minds. How many times did we see Frank miss easy layups this year, to the groans of every fan or get bulldozed by a stronger player or seemingly be taken out of the offense by a smaller player. His failing are often very obvious.
- Crazy rollercoaster of consistency issues. Ice cold or Frank's RedHot, with little inbetween. He knows this is something he needs to work on before next season.
- Most importantly, it is hard for fans to ignore the glaring FG% problems, especially when so many of his misses are wide open 3s or missed layups. Fans tend to remember the big misses and then see the FG% to back up the feel-o-meter.
But underneath all of that is the Frank that is a stud in the advanced metric world. He clearly makes the offense better. He makes his teammates better. He's such a smart player and he knows what to do. And when he's RedHot, there are few players on the team that can carry the offense the way he does.

Re: Geometry: The Frank Kaminsky Thread
Frank's timeline still reminds me a lot of Cody. I do hope to see a pretty good year 3 form him next season.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Re: Geometry: The Frank Kaminsky Thread
I think that most of Cody's and Frank's improvement is biological, neither of them had their full man strength when they came in. Some dudes grow faster, sooner. I was a lot stronger at 28 then 18 too. They should both be in the beginning of their peaks next year and have a good 6-7 years or so of their best balling to look forward too.
Next year-
Nic, Marco and Marv - starting to decline a bit but still near their best
Kemba - absolutely peaking for next couple of years then slowing some
Graham, JOB, Cody, Frank, Lamb - starting to get near their peak but on the upside of things
Sessions, Roberts - have declined
MKG - injuries have disrupted his game, should be peaking now but I don't know what that is for him
Plumlee- should peak this year if he loses the weight and gets serious about winning
We have a team that could easily win 50 games next season with a starting 3 and D guy and a better then average back up point guard. If we can draft one star and MLE the other into a good player we could even beat 50 wins and give Cleveland a tough series.
The rest of the team is ready to play good ball if we fill those holes. If not, we are going to be a take down project next off season.
