Buying a pick that doesn't beat women?
I'd love it if we could buy a high 2nd rounder and get Hamidou Diallo, he looks like the kind of long defensive guard that you can use in any team. Of course, he'll probably go higher than what's gonna be available to buy, and our FO is not bright like that, but the Warriors bought the 38th pick last year for $2.4M, and Diallo is currently projected at 33rd on draftexpress. He'd probably take like half a decade to be playable, but that's the kind of low risk/high reward move we should be doing at the moment.
Diallo would be a nice upside pick. He has a long way to go to get on the floor, because he cant shoot a lick. Would be a great upside play, which is something we obviously need. He would be ideal for a two-way contract, but no way hes accepting that if drafted that high.
This is why finally getting our own D-League team was such a necessity.
I also would be interested in taking a flier on Jordan Bell and seeing if his jumper can ever come around. I doubt Doc would ever play him, but he has decent size to help in the front court, blocks shots, rebounds above average, defends, good athlete. Hes the type of defender that helps vs. small lineups.
