Re: Orlando Interested in Hammond
I thought Marc Stein was fired from ESPN?
Anyways, I wonder if Hammond is going to leave us this off-season.

Plus, we don't need the Bucks ownership group to get any stupid ideas about moving Kidd to a FO role

Re: Orlando Interested in Hammond
I don't know if Hammond would want to take on a complete rebuild at his age, but I'm sure warm weather is appealing and maybe a fresh start somewhere else since there is an exit plan in place here.

Don't want to lose Hammond, but it's inevitable.

I'd trade him for their first.

Re: Orlando Interested in Hammond
I think Hammond is looking forward to semi-retiring in a year and handing off to Zanik.
Here are more legal notices regarding the Posts

Hammond can leave Milwaukee a core of Giannis/Middleton/Thon/Brogdon/Parker, and with his head held high. If it would mean Zanik takes over a year early, then great.

He announced that he's among the layoffs, but like Chad Ford, he'll probably stay on until June 30, with Woj set to take over on Jul 1.

The fact that there's people that think Hammond was anything other than a train wreck is fascinating to me.

We know Hammond has the loosest lips in the organization. Wouldn't be surprised if this is a Hammond-engineered move to get a more-golden parachute or an extension.

This upcoming season is supposedly Hammond's final season as GM and he's supposed to mentor Zanik to replace him in 2018. I don't know what to make of this rumor. Maybe this implies he is being forced out against his will and is reaching out to other teams. Or maybe it means nothing at all and Hammond is laughing at this rumor.

Yes, there is a succession plan. Zanik is the heir apparent and my understanding was next offseason, but I'm not for sure on that.
I would have to think Griffin is their Plan A. From Hammond's standpoint, you'd think he'd want to stick it out here to see what happens. But he'll be 64 this summer and if he is going to make a move, it would be now. As mentioned, I'm sure the idea of living in Florida may be appealing too. I'm guessing his stock is pretty high right now with Giannis, Maker, the Bucks looking like a potential force in the coming years, etc.

Re: Orlando Interested in Hammond
They can have him. I'm not convinced he is the best GM for this team going forward. He hasn't shown a capacity to make shrewd signings or trades, and my guess is that his best skill - his choice to value length and take a home run swing in the draft - is going to be less valuable as more teams adopt that approach.
I'm not going to kick him out of the building, but I'm not begging him to stay.

gms need to hang around making decent moves til they get lucky. that has been hammonds tenure. his worst move in a decade is signing drew gooden to an mle deal. that's a pretty good bullet point compared to a lot of other gms in this league.
It will be a sad day for me when he moves on.

Years from now, I think we will look back at Hammond's tenure and view him much more favorably than he is viewed now.

Re: Orlando Interested in Hammond
There's no way this team gives Kidd a front office position. Hammond has done some great things here and he's also done some inexplicably awful things. Absolving him of blame because of influence I always thought was ridiculous but perhaps we've been too hard on him.
If it's time to start the Zanik era then so be it. We have Giannis, let's see what Zanik can do. Maybe a different perspective is exactly what we need to take the next step.
If Hammond leaves, i'll wish him well.
