What kind of annoys me is that I thought the defense was set minus a starting DE and some depth in the secondary. I think right now we have a top 16 defense at worst. We have a lot of good pieces on offense (oline, RBs, and second tier WRs.) If the FO really trusts Glennon to be a winner then they should have spent the first pick on something that was going to improve the defense or give Glennon another weapon like Mike Williams.

I do think we're stil better than that ranking. We might crack the top 16 overall.

Last season the rankings were pretty accurate. And Glennon doesn't really have anyone to throw to this season. Most teams took advantage of this draft and upgraded with guys who can play right now. We got mostly developmental guys that need more time. If we end up in top 5 not a bad thing. Just double down on another QB and dont trade away anymore unless its for more picks.

Going down the full New York Jets route seems clever.

Yep, who says we have a guaranteed franchise QB? Packers drafted a QB last year. Keeping their toe in the water eventough they dont need one for years. How much more then do we need to have multiple options? Next years draft has higher rated QBs. Until we have a locked in franchise QB...we dont have one.

If I remember correctly, this year's quarterbacks were highly rated the year before they were drafted. Just saying.

I'd rather not be the Jets 2.0. Over the last five years, since 2012, they have drafted a QB four times, twice in the first two rounds. How has it worked out for them? I get that QB is the most important position in football, but the Bears have way too many holes as to take a gamble on another QB with yet another high pick. If Pace is convinced Trubisky is his franchise QB, which he has to be as he drafted him two overall and traded up to get him, then it's time to shore up the roster while you develop him. Taking a shot in the dark with another QB the year after you drafted one two overall would reek of desperation and lack of direction.

All of your points are valid, now if Mitchell doesn't pan out it'll be said after the fact that Pace should have doubled down. All the same roster issues would have still existed. Its all based on success at the QB position. If you end up with two good QBs you can trade one and get a pick for him to fill another position.

Thats the issue most have with this entire offseason that Pace actions hasnt really matched his words since the season ended .

He was overpaying for Glennon a week or so after seeing Mitch at the combine knowing how much he liked him .

If you like Mitch well then resign Hoyer because he knows the offense already and can help Mitch and the rest of the new receivers get ready quicker now you have the offensive side of the ball where most important position doesnt know the offense well enough to help the new guys which is usually what happens

As I said about Glennon before if hes your guy and you really believe in him well then take care of teh defense in free agency and use the draft to get him some weapons . Trade down for Howard give Mitch to the Browns and take Zay Jones and Baker in the 2nd a tackle in the 3rd. Just commit to to your guy because if you try and cover too many holes at once you end up not covering any .

They are saying that Trevathan may start the season on the PUP so that hurts the defense for sure considering you have basically an all new secondary
