What a card!

Short of the headliner. Ugh. It's HW, anything can happen, but Stipe by CTE is pretty damn likely. JDS makes me sad.

Its lose-lose for me. Stipe's annunciation skills make Diego's look eloquent.

Miocic per FightMetric has landed the third-most significant strikes (600) in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s heavyweight division, trailing only dos Santos (887) and Cain Velasquez (718). He ranks ahead of Sylvia (585), Werdum (581), Cheick Kongo (574), Arlovski (470), Roy Nelson (439), Stefan Struve (413) and Couture (392).

Miocic holds the UFC’s single-fight record for most strikes landed. He connected with 361 of them against 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix winner Mark Hunt in their UFC Fight Night 65 main event on May 10, 2015 in Adelaide, Australia. Miocic outlanded Hunt 70-0 in the fifth round, stopping him 2:47 into the final frame.

Wait hold up, I just realized JDS is 3-3 in his last six fights. Is the heavyweight division that bare, that we can't get a better matchup for Stipe??

Now that I look, I guess so. With Cain injured and Stipe already beating Werdum, JDS(2014) and Reem.

I had not realized that the heavyweight division is so bare outside of the top 6 guys.

Not only losses, but hellacious beatings. Rothwell is a legit win but also had a PED history. Anything can happen at HW and maybe there is a psychological holdover from the first win that can get him through this. Still should not be fighting.

JDS hasn't won back to back fights since his first title defense 2012(!) but he's looked pretty good except for his loss two to Cain. Even in the Overeem loss, I thought he looked good before walking into that hook. All I'm saying is, there could certainly be worse candidates for title challengers.

It's certainly not bad for heavyweight. There's only Werdum and theoretically Cain. Lewis and Ngannou a fight or 2 away. Actually HW is looking better than it has.

He just doesn't seem particularly skilled, suspect conditioning but big power. I kinda described all HW's outside of the top 5...
