Which tools do you think he has that are superior?

In terms of height, Diallo may be a bit taller, but he doesn't appear 6-6 to me. I haven't seen any measurements of Jones to compare to Diallo, but he looks pretty long. Diallo may have the size to play either guard position but I don't see him having the ballhandling or passing skills to play the point. I don't see Diallo's athleticism as other worldy. I'd compare him to Demar in that regard.
Maybe he's worked on his skills over the past year, but just going on what I've seen from high school, he has a long way to go. (That's not to say Jones doesn't). In regard to Jones' .425 shooting percentage, you have to keep in mind that 45% of his shots were from three, bringing his overall percentages down. He certainly has to improve in that regard though.
DeMar's turned himself to quite an impressive player. Then again, not many guys will work like DeMar. However, I'd say Diallo has the tools to be the defensive player DeMar isn't. Diallo's length is very similar to Norm's, which is impressive.
As for Jones' percentages. Yes, he takes a lot from 3 and he shoots a bad percentage on them. That doesn't look good for a point guard who's supposed to be the smartest player on the floor. If you can't shoot, don't shoot.
