As for Jones' percentages. Yes, he takes a lot from 3 and he shoots a bad percentage on them. That doesn't look good for a point guard who's supposed to be the smartest player on the floor. If you can't shoot, don't shoot.

It's the work that truly separated Kobe from everyone else. DeMar is similar, though perhaps not as obsessive and not quite as naturally gifted. As you say though, not everyone works that hard. I'm not sure if it's even possible to begin to get a feel for a guy's work ethic before you draft him and start working with him. If it were, Kawhi would have gone higher.
Diallo is as athletic as anyone we'll find in our range. The only thing I can think of is you watch him go through workouts and see how he handles himself. Does he like when the intensity picks up? Has he been working on things that actually show? eg. handles, shot, conditioning.
I wouldn't draft an athlete just to draft an athlete, but I understand why you are quite willing to take a gamble. We need a major injection of talent on this team. Heck, I need a reason to watch again because I'm bored out of my mind and have been for a while.

Could be better or worse than both. I remember watching Green during the McDonalds all American game and dunk contest. He looked like a superstar.

Not much difference between 23rd and 27th.

Carroll at this point may be zero or negative value. I doubt Nets or Lakers do this.

I think Marks should be very interested if that trade offer is on the table. BKN is not going to get any top-level free agents and they need to be accumulating picks as much as possible, or moving up from the current picks they have. Taking on Carroll to mentor a similar a guy like Caris LeVert on defense is a win-win for them since they'll probably be terrible for another 4-5 years and they're not going to actually be able to tank for themselves until 2019. A team like the Lakers makes no sense since they're still the Lakers and can hit on one free agent at any given point who suddenly wants to play in Hollywood, and I don't see Magic/Pelinka as guys who are looking to take on more terrible contracts, whereas BKN can afford to at this stage.

Brooklyn might. They have every reason to go for 9th next year since their pick is going to Boston. They won't be able to attract any FA unless they severely overpay like Crabbe and Tyler Johnson last summer
