You should go intern for the Jazz analytics department. Maybe you can help Locke with some stats :P

Ha! One of the reasons I'm particularly salty about PAAC is that I feel like Locke semi-plagiarized it from me.

Old school locked on listeners remember that before PAAC, there was the Locke offensive rating. He was asking for suggestions about the greatest offensive seasons ever, and I was reading them all from my list that was essentially the same thing as PAAC. He asked me how I was doing it, I told him roughly what I did, and not to long after that he came out with PAAC and called it his best work yet.

Salty me is salty.

Dude did you salty as hell.

I agree with stitches. It's about time this board got some representation on the Jazz's front office. :D

If it counts for anything, I did post the "BYU is older than the Jazz" random fact to reddit. Both Quin and Dennis Lindsey said it outloud during interviews/press conferences, and apparently it made it into an NBA 2k video game. That was the height of my **** posting powers.

Depends on the game. I agree that MMO-type games and MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) games like League of Legends are a waste of time, in that they just make you chase meaningless stats and game-items to give you a sense of achievement which doesn't really apply to anything outside the game. The are are plenty of such examples and it is prevalent in other game types as well. As a whole, there are indeed plenty of games that I'd agree are a waste of time, since you don't really get anything from them except a distraction and a way to spend your time with nothing real to show for it (though I guess other people will say that is enough).

There are, however, games that are more than games, and that playing them is no more a waste of time than watching a good movie or reading a good book. Games like The Witcher franchise, Bioshock, Planescape Torment and many others transcend the "video game" label and are more than that. It is no more a waste of time to play such a game than it is to watch a good movie or read a good book (on which the Witcher franchise is based, for example, are those books are criminally underrated).

Agree to disagree. I like video games. But I would never put them in the same category as books.

Even if what you do in Planesacpe Torment is mostly read? Like, around 5,000 pages worth of text?

I can understand your point of view, but maybe you haven't come across the right game yet to make you change your mind.

Just finished reading The Void by Brett J. Talley (no relation to the excellent and also recommended movie by the same name). In fact, The Void was the third (and latest) Brett J. Talley book I've read in a row (the other two: That Which Should Not Be and He Who Walks in Shadow).

If anyone is into Science Fiction with a slight Lovecraftian bent, I'd recommend this book. The other two books are more straight-up Lovecraft in that they expand on the Cthulhu mythos and are very well written, as is The Void.

Though I could do with a lot more gore and bloodshed (this book is more in line of atmosphere and tension building), and the basic premise of the book is very heavily..."borrowed", shall we say, from Stephen King's short story The Jaunt, it is nevertheless very well written and executed. Two thumbs up.

Managed to read Arthur Machen's The Great God Pan by now, too, and am open to suggestions for what to read next (I'll occupy this time by reading some short stories).

I'm sure the words on the back of the shampoo bottle had more depth and sophistication than any Black Eyed Peas song.

You'll get more out of the story if you played the previous games, and\or read the books. Still, the quality of the writing and dialogue jumps at you right away, and the approach of making the side-quests as meaningful and as well-written as the main plot, makes this game stand out, among other things. It's a huge game though. Are you still in White Orchard?
