Chris Taylor?

Small sample but .439 OBP in 66 PA.
Has decent wheels.
It's worth a shot for at least a game or 2.

Would all be solved if Forsythe would get healthy.

neither was Toles with .314 OBP this season. JOc is actually better so far this season with .333 OBP.

I never was a fan of toles leading off either.

Maybe it's not a big deal

Taylor 1/4 from the lead off spot so far. Scored from 1st to home on a Turner double.

Alex Wood 6 Scoreless.
He keeps this up and I might reassess our 2015 deadline.

2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international

Post#185 » by Quake Griffin » Sun May 14, 2017 11:01 am

"Alex Wood will stay in the rotation when Rich Hill and Brandon McCarthy come back next week,' Dave Roberts said.

Sooooo based on how we are currently set up for the week and Maeda hitting the DL after a good start...

Kershaw
Wood
Urias
McCarthy
Hill/Maeda

Put Maeda next to Hill for the next time that waste of prospects and $48 million's blister flairs up.

one thing is for sure, Friedman and Co f the best evaluators in all baseball. Jerry Dipooto sent us a gift in Taylor by taking our flaming garbage that was Zach Lee. I don't believe he is on their 40 men roster anymore.

the best leadoff right now on our roster is Turner. he is getting on base at near .440 OBP. but as Quake suggested, Taylor right now is on fire. Joc is slumping badly right now. has not hit a HR since the opening day. if it wasn't for his OBP ability he would be hitting below .650 OPS.

against RHP, we could optimize our lineup by going
1. R 3B Turner - best OBP on the team
2. L SS Seager -leads the team on most number of pitches seen
3. L LF Bellinger - yet to hit a GIDP. best SLG%
4. S C Grandal - placeholder by default.
5. R 2B Taylor - another lead off if inning is out with slow Grandal
6. L CF Pederson - can't let him hit in front of a pitcher and never see a good fastball.
7. R RF Puig - leads the team in GIDP. let's have him take some IBBs.
8. Pitcher
9. L 1B Utley - Chase is hitting worse than our pitchers anyway, but gives us another leadoff at the end.

this lineup against RHP, will wear down pitch count early on and see a lot of fastballs trying to keep runners close to the bag with our heaviest bats following in the first four in the order. once Perderson starts hitting and Puig get some consistency, it will be a death row is line up 1 through 7. if Taylor starts to hit a wall, Logan should be healthy and back. It would be nice to have a healhty Gonzo back in the lineup. then we can drop Chase and pitching spot back to the 9th. the lineup will be so damn versatile that we can plug anyone in any spot and will stil work. Logan - Seager - Turner - Bellinger - Grandal - Gonzo- Puig - Pederson would devastate any right handed pitcher. take Gonzo out and put Bellinger back on 1st, then plug in Gutie in the left and as the cleanup, it will threaten LHPs.
ehhhhh f it.

Urias not looking good so far

Let's see if he can work through a tough first inning without giving up anymore runs

Urias didnt get hit hard at all except Arenado.

He has a chance to settle down and have a good start.

Who is good with pitch selection?
Neddy?

Are you pleased with how Grandal is calling games? Barnes?

Add another "we can do better if we move on from this player" to the list:

- SVS.

Such a non-factor that we went out and signed Franklin Gutierrez to face lefties. Now SVS's value to our club is that he can cover 1B sometimes.

I said it at the end of last season. We need to get rid of the filth on this team. You keep filth around and you end up leaning on it in a pinch and it backfires.

No Defense for Scott Van Slyke

I concur. I've defended Baez and even Utley's place on this team, but I can't find a way to rationalize keeping Scott Van Slyke despite his versatility, previous display of power, inexpensive contract and remaining years of cost control. There are likely better options in the minors for his roster spot.

Ethier and Van Slyke are on my list of those to get rid of. Hyun-Jin Ryu is practically on the list for me as well, but I'm open to seeing if he can make progress given his 2-year layoff from the game. If we can package them for a decent prospect or a collection of prospects playing in low levels of the minors, I'd be happy.
