"Could Hammond see the Magic as a nice place to prove that, as he did in Milwaukee, he can resurrect a sunken team and make them into a baby contender? Maybe, but it doesn’t really matter considering he’s under contract.

Unless the Magic know something that no Bucks reporter has picked up, i.e. that Zanik will take over sooner than reported and Hammond is out, it seems impossible for the current Bucks GM to end up anywhere else this summer."

Hammond would be a worthwhile gamble. He has had some impressive acquisitions recently including giannis, middleton, brogdon.

Looking at that team, I would not see how he would leave voluntarily though.

Yeah. I bring this up because the Woj mentions that we are talking to Hammond this week, which is at odds with the Bucks blog.

Hmmm, who's in charge? Alex Martins. We are f***ed! Further proof that he should have been the one to go, not Rob. He's going to continue to wait on Griffin, we'll get screwed over there, Gilbert extends Griffin. Then we are left scrambling at the last minute, with not much time for new PBO & GM to prepare for the draft.

Only good thing is Vogel, Forcier and Lloyd seem to be spearheading the draft committee so we have a chance and taking a proper player.

Barely, I don't have any confidence in this organization anymore. Nor will I while Alex is at the helm. I can see it now, with the 5th pick in the 2017 NBA draft the Orlando Magic select Jonathan Jeanne. Who ends up never coming over a la Fran Vazquez.

I think we as fans need to boycott the Magic. Stop by tickets, cancel your season tickets and stop going to games. Maybe the Devos family will do something, when the crowd is less than 10K, less than 5K. But I doubt that, they'll continue staying in Michigan and letting Martins continue running this organization into the ground.

IDK man Vogel, Forcier and Lloyd make me feel a little confident. Vogel's been saying some good things in the media lately about how he now knows the roster and what things we need to add to become better.

Magic attendance doesn't need real Magic fan support to be full or make profit. We're such a tourist town that people vacationing will spend to catch a game then go downtown. Not to mention when Boston, LA, or any big market team comes its like a home game for them. Lots of season ticket holders I know didn't go to a game since all star break and instead sold and used $ elsewhere (Orlando City, Pride and other local events).
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

I'm saying that, because something has to happen. We are in a downward spiral with no end insight. Everyone including Martins and Devos made Rob the scapegoat, when he wasn't the problem. As someone mentioned earlier, Rob was fired a month ago and the idiots in the front office continue waiting to interview and exec with the Cavs, who will no be done this season anytime soon.

Something catastrophic needs to happen for Devos to realize how dumb it is to have Alex making decisions regarding the team.

That And1 I just gave you was from 3, Rob wasn't the problem, until the Skiles hire he was actually the solution. We were 1 pick off from a core of Payton/Oladipo/Harris/Gordon/Porzingis/Vucevic/Fournier. In 2017 that line up is Oladipo short of agreeing a bench role and a shooting SF from competing for a decade...

Any updates on Rob? I haven't heard anything. I would think he would get picked up quick by an NBA team for his scouting.

... team CEO Alex Martins should consider making Vogel the president of basketball operations and hiring a general manager to work under him.

O-Sen LINK

This is an interesting idea as effectively Coach Vogel would be the boss of the GM. I cannot not recall that strategy officially. Obviously it is effecting the structure in San Antonio.

At first glance, I like this idea.

That's a terrible idea by a terrible writer. Let the coaches coach. We have numerous examples now of POBO being too much of a job on its own.

I am not a fan of that idea either, and I agree that those jobs should be separate. Even if I was open to the idea of giving a coach the same gig that Stan has in Detroit, I do not think Vogel did anywhere near a good enough job the past year to give me any confidence he could do the job.
