I was hoping he would be a 2nd rounder or a late 1st rounder, so if the FO really want him they could trade our pick, but he has boosted his stock lately, damn.

Currently watching Louisville vs. Kentucky on ESPNU... I was hoping to wow'd by Mitchell but, very lackluster performance.
I know you can't base an entire opinion on one game but, I'm not seeing anything that screams 11th overall pick. He's not very active on either side of the ball... Lots of standing around, don't really see an extra gear. Pretty decent stroke from 3 but, nothing special so far. Still about 15 minutes left in the game, maybe he turns it up a notch.

He is an intriguing player. If he can play some point guard he could be a great pick, but if he is strictly a two guard I don't know if he is really what we need. With the lack of a quality back up point guard and rim protector I'm not sure how an under sized two with no jumper is going to take minutes away from Lamb and Marco.

We would have to ask ourselves if we can convert him to a PG. A 6'3" SG (nice wingspan though) is just tiny in today's game. I know his stock is rising, I'm just on the fence about him at 11 currently.

His physical measurements are very similar to Avery Bradley (6'1.25/6'10"/8'1" vs 6'2"/6'7.25"/8'2.5"), but he is 30lbs heavier and has considerably more hops (36.5"/40.5" vs 31.5"/37.5"). Not sure how their agility compares, but I'm pretty sure Mitchell placed top 5 in a couple of the agility tests for his class. Seems like he should be able to guard SG's if he has the mentality.

I am not sold one way or the other, it seems like other guys have more potential.

What is the main reason for not liking him for lotto? Height? Jumper? Lack of playmaking? Handles?

He isn't good enough. It's that simple.
I'd consider him after 25.

Re: Donovan Mitchell - SG - 6'3" - Louisville
It needs mentioning that Avery Bradley is overrated as hell. He looks impressive defensively because he "gets after it" but has problems on switches, can't defend larger 3's, and forget about helping weakside on drives or effectively tagging centers. The additional WS is nice too except the frame itself and max vertical reach are absolute killers.
I don't even believe these SR's. Regardless, yuck....
Mitchell: 8'1" SR
Bradley: 8'2.5" SR
Pragmatically speaking, the biggest issue for small non-PG's is it requires an actual handling PG on the floor who's generally another relatively small human --- again, a major lineup and roster constraint. Which is kind sorta understandable if the small SG is an elite shooter but that's not the case.
These are all below average....
Jumper FG: 35.25%
3FG: 35.4% (32.9% career)
Jumper eFG: 47.55%

Re: Donovan Mitchell - SG - 6'3" - Louisville
I think Avery is a really good player on a team that makes little sense for his skills, size.
Ideally he is paired next to a playmaking wing, not a 5'9" shot first pg.
He's a fantastic fit next to a LeBron, harden, Simmons type, where he guards opposing pg while playing off the ball.
That being said, couldn't Mitchell work as that combo guard on the 2nd unit? Does he have Gary Harris type game?

Sure and I'm a Harris fanboy and don't dislike Bradley (in context). But that's a low - and IMO an unrealistic - outcome compared to the countless archetype examples that didn't make it or peaked as limited specialists.
In that way he's like Justin Jackson - no obviously elite NBA skill and too reliant upon an implausible projection to justify foregoing different options @ 11.
If CHA owned a late teens pick or it was 2016 I'd feel differently.

If CHA loves loves loves Mitchell they should trade the pick for (3) 1sts which I believe is 11's value.

See that's what I thought, but then I read Lebron, Harden type and figured there's no way anybody would put him in that group.
