Knicks still interested in Reddick

Post#1 » by BBALLER4FR » Thu May 18, 2017 8:42 am

*Sigh*
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/245975/76ers-Nets-Knicks-Interested-In-JJ-Redick

“Brooklyn, the Knicks are teams that have interest in Redick. We'll see how far they're willing to pay,” said Adrian Wojnarowski.

Redick has been connected to the Knicks with the possibility of the Clippers revisiting trade talks for Carmelo Anthony.

Woj. Troubling part is he says "We'll see how far they're willing to pay". Do we even need Reddick? I thought is was a stupid move in potential Melo talks and even dumber as a free agent pickup. WTF is Phil doing?

I don't see this happening. We already have Lee at SG who is backed up by Justin who we want back. And Baker can play some 2 as well. This might be the Knicks trying to get Justin's agent to move things along. I can't see Phil giving Reddick a multi-year deal. We're not on that timeline. I would think that JJ will be looking to sign with a team that has a good chance to compete in the playoffs.

If its 3 years with a team option on the 3rd, I'am down with it.

You still need some veteran guys in the locker room.

And Reddick, judging by his podcast I listened a couple of times, is a smart dude who can bring some needed maturity and leadership to this team.

And also important, he will not be too good. So tank stays safe.

Reddick is a solid player. I personally think he's better than Courtney Lee but if it's a lot to give up for him or a lot to pay not interested.

Clippers trade sign and trade JJ Reddick (at 2 years 15 million a year maybe with a 3rd year team or player option?) and Jamal Crawford, 2018, 2020 , 2022 first round picks. Not getting a lottery pick for Melo this year means they need to give up more picks in the future. 2018 wont be a good pick. 2020 may be decent and 2022 should be our lottery pick. Or take 2019 and 2021 and take back 2 2nd rounders. Idk. prob not getting this for Melo, but only way I do a trade straight up with the clips, is in this scenario. Otherwise, enjoy the continues first round exits. We don't need to help them out. Fk Doc Rivers too btw. Cant predict the future, and all 2 or 3 picks may end up sucking. That's what needs to happen if they want to get it done.

for

Carmelo Anthony and Sasha V.

Cut Crawford. His Deal is off the books in 2 years. Reddick off the books in 2 years. Doubt the Clippers would trade 3 picks, but it would take 3 picks for me to take back those contracts and Give up Anthony. Rather let him walk at the end of the deal, then to trade him for 1 or 2 **** first round picks. Don't help others if it isn't helping you out.

Reddick is reportedly seeking 18-20 mil/yr in FA and will be 33 by the start of next season. Signing him when we're 1 of the worst teams in the EC and have zero playmaking to help him get his shots on offense would be incredibly dumb. You already acknowledged that u think he won't be too good either. The tank can proceed without adding another stupid contract.

I really hate the redundancy of Lee and Holiday.

Yea but no reason to sign him. We already have Lee and Holliday (but Holliday may not be here) I rather have Lee who can just about bring what Reddick can on O, but 10fold better on defense. Reddick would be a nice fit with our team and the Triangle, just a lot of money to commit to a guy when we arnt close to contending for the playoffs, and we shouldn't be looking to make moves to make us an 8th seed team.

I liked the lineup where Jeff played both. Lee at the 2 and Justin at the 3. Versatility and interchangeable parts Is probably what you're going to see more of particularly if we draft Frank who can also guard the 1, 2 and 3.
