Super 8 Tournament - Draft Thread

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Thu May 18, 2017 4:41 pm

Draft Rules:

1. Every player from the 1979-80 season to the 2016-17 season will be available to be drafted. You can draft players that came into the league before 1979 but the season you choose for player X can't be before 1979-80. Players must have played in 75% of available regular season games.

2. Sign-ups will be limited to eight teams to create potential combinations of stars not normally available. Given the rich player pool, FGA management and blend will become increasingly important.

3. The winner of the draft will be determined by a ranking system.

4. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. All eight players will be required to play 8 minutes in your game rotations.

5. You must state the specific season of the player you choose to draft. You don't have to do it right away when you make your selection but you must state it on your team roster page.

6. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 90.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.

7. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA

8. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, you can and should be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to myself or another participant. A player missing picks or causing significant delays can be skipped early or replaced at the discretion of the commish.

9. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT. The clock will start Friday, May 19, at 9 AM EDT.

10. Draft order will be completely randomized.

11. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you as a courtesy so they will know that it is their turn. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. The next person's clock starts immediately after the prior pick, not when they are quoted.

Team Roster Page Rules:

1. You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. Players with seasons selected
. Rotations. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes.
. A write-up of how your team will excel
. You must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 90.0 FGA

-All of the above should be completed before rankings begin.

Rankings Rules:

1. After the draft has been completed participants will rank the top five teams. They cannot rank their own team. Only participants can rank teams.

2. A minimum of five rankings will be required. The deadline for rankings will be extended, if necessary, until we get to five.

3. Rankings will be made public after the results are published. Be prepared to be challenged.

Haven't decided if #1 pick is good or bad yet :-? I'll save some FGAs and go with someone I never drafted before:
Magic Johnson

Uh I guess Kareem. It goes against my judgement in regards to depth, but I think he's the best player available.

There is obviously at least 2 better players at this position, but I prefer the FGA flexibility that this guy provides me, as well as being a much better defender than the other 2 and a 44.3% 3P shooter on 4.0 attempts.

I'll take Kawhi Leonard.

There is enough top level talent that I am going to go ahead and snag the ultimate cheap role player draymond green.

I'm a little overwhelmed by the options I have. I'll go with The Doctor, Julius Erving. Imagine Doc & Magic on the fast break :o

Can someone quote next?

I'm between 2 guys here. I'm going to go with the slightly more expensive guy. I like his fit just a tad more. I'll take Karl Malone.

Again quite a few different ways to go here. I'm gonna go with my man, the chuckwagon:

Charles Barkley. He and Hakeem would be an awesome duo down low, compliment each-other well and with Bird spacing it out for 'em, yikes. I'll need to get some extra defense now but it's worth it.
