Yep. This isn't like the Wiggins/Love situation. We aren't signing Lebron this summer. You don't trade a 19 year old stud like Fultz for guys in their late 20's who aren't going to put us over the Cavs as long as Lebron is still there.
AD is the only guy worth discussing but it's not really much of a discussion as he isn't on the market. I do think Danny would at least spend a second thinking about Porz, but wouldn't do it. I'm a big Porz fan and think Brad could do wonders with him. But Fultz is the real deal here. The kid can score. And Brad has shown the success he can have running his system around a big time scorer.
The question becomes what to do with IT. Can he play with Fultz? Do you pay IT? Is Fultz a PG or 2? If he's a PG, then why resign IT. If he's a 2, then do you move Avery? Also, is Jaylen ready to take over for Crowder? Does Crowder really provide more than what Jaylen is capable of? If we sign Hayward, and draft Fultz, are we saying Jaylen will never be a starter here? Is 24 year old Jaylen better than current Hayward?
Oh so many questions.
yep, all the yep.
Anthony Davis seems like the only player worthy of giving up Fultz for, particularly in light of AD being locked into a very reasonable long-term contract. Would seem crazy for NO to trade him, but if they could get some high lottery picks and decent starters (sounds like they might lose Jrue Holiday) to play around Boogie, maybe they have something going forward to build on, like Fultz + Boogie.
I did some trade machine fiddling and the C's would need to come up with at least $17M in salary to do a deal. Avery + Zeller + Mickey gets it there salary-wise.
As far as the draft picks to include, I wonder if the Fultz pick is enough? Would NO require Nets 2018 as well? Or Jaylen? Or all 3?
I think a trade for AD would also allow the C's to keep Olynyk, which would set up an amazing frontcourt with Horford and AD, backed up by Olynyk and Zizic (with the occasional appearance by the Dancing Bear). Smart or, hopefully, Brown could then slide into the starting backcourt for Bradley.
